Lahman DB problems

When I import position players stats come in and I get ratings.
When I import pitchers, stats don't come in and I have bad ratings.

Why won't the pitchers import?
I'm using 4.5

Are you using the lately game update, 4.1? Have you tried using one of the alternative databases? They can work better at times.

While we're on the subject, did Nolan Ryan really go 185-146 with 187 Svs in 1966?

If so, how did he manage to do so in only 2 games? I mean with an ERA of 0.04 and over 25,000 strikeouts its hard to imagine him being beaten that often.

yeah, you need to get an updated database. at least ScottVib's that corrects the pitcher's stat import problem. Ankit's is very good also, with a bit more tweaking on defense, and bringing in players and closer to their true life ratings with less development, while Gambo's DB brings players in when they were actually drafted, but I would only suggest Gambo's once you've really gotten the hang of running a historic replay...

Ankit Revised Database:

Gambo Revised Database:

Here are the locations of several, just cut and paste them in your browser window and they should work.

Different DBs?

I'm not sure I follow why there are several different DBs. Stats are stats. Outside of adjusting the season in which they first appear, how do you alter DBs to get different results within the game?

The various ones have been editted or corrected, etc...had more info added or players with few atbats, etc removed.

To alter the DBs to get different results within the game, you must change the stats of the player/players to be imported.

Of the DBs linked above, the ScottVib one doesn't alter the information other than to sort it properly, and fill in some missing information. Ankits just adjusts the players debut to a season more closely indicating the players potential levels. Gambo's imports players on the year that the player was drafted and does some stuff to try and project the players development properly.

Other databases, such as Ankit's Normalized database, actually change the statistical values for the player to adjust the skills the player imports with, to get different results.

I'm a bit confused. What exactly is Ankit's Normalized database? What does it do, when used, in game?

Thanks

Problem associated with the length of time that Ryan pitched in the majors, he went 27 seasons and the game only allows 25 years of stats to show up on the player card. You also get this problem with Cap Anson who played for 27 seasons.

I have not used it but I believe that it kinda sets all the players on "level ground" so to speak as if they were all playing in the same era. I could be wrong about that though.

Normalized DB

But if the stats are changed to normalize ratings, won't the players' historical stats show up in accurately then?

As far as I understand it, that's the point.

The database isn't supposed to be used for historical leagues, just for "all-time" leagues. It adjusts all the players' stats so that you can have Cy Young, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, and Ichiro Suzuki all playing in the same league and performing at a normalized level.

Gotcha

Ah, that clears it up. And while I'm here, I take it there is no way to import 2002 numbers into the game at this point and time, correct?
