Post Best of league

We fellow fellow baseball lovers, I do have a question. I'm thinking of doing a league that has the best 32 teams of all time in it. I'm not sure if it's already been done, but I am curious if anyone has suggestions on what 32 teams to include. Thanks for anyone who submits....

Check out MLB.com, They just finished up a SimSeries that had a 64 team bracket of all-time best teams.
The 1927 Yankees beat the 1975 Reds in a great finale.

I think alot depends on what sort of guidelines you want to follow. Do you want every franchise represented or just the 32 'greatest teams'. My suggestion would be to represent 28 teams (exclude Arizona and Tampa Bay since they are only 4 years old, although the 2001 Arizona team could probably be substituted for the Colorado franchise) and also pick 4 wildcard teams to represent defunct franchises (1924 Senators, 1944 Browns, etc.)

Some teams that I would probably include would be:
1927 Yankees; 75 or 76 Reds; 1931 A's; 1954 Indians; 1942-44 Cardinals; 1909 Pirates; 1957 Braves; 1984 Tigers; 1986 Mets; 1963 Dodgers; 1918 Red Sox; 92 or 93 Blue Jays; 1980 Phillies

Just the best 32 teams... I'm not looking to include one of every franchise... Just the ones to be percieved as the best

Any list you do without worrying about what franchise they come from will be very heavy on Yankees-not that I mind that, as a Yankee fan!! Here is a possible list-

1906 Cubs, 1912 Giants, 1927 Yankees, 1929 Athletics, 1931 Athletics, 1932 Yankees, 1935 Cubs, 1936 Yankees, 1937 Yankees, 1939 Yankees, 1941 Dodgers, 1942 Yankees, 1942 Cardinals, 1944 Cardinals, 1954 Indians, 1970 Orioles, 1971 Orioles, 1974 Dodgers, 1975 Reds, 1984 Tigers, 1986 Mets, 1988 Mets, 1995 Indians, 1998 Yankees, 2001 Mariners

Well, that's only 25 teams, and some did not win the Series, so if that is what you are looking for, it may not work. However, they are all teams that won 100 games, led the league in runs scored, and gave up the fewest runs in the league. There are exceptions to that as well- the 54 Indians and 75 Reds did not do that, but I don't think anyone will argue with those teams. Other teams that should be represented include a Braves team from the 90's, Yankees from late 40's to early 50's, Dodgers in the 60's, and a few others.

Hope this helps!!

I'd add the 68 Tigers and 77 Yankees to the list of teams already mentioned to consider.

edit- the 17 White Sox as well (or the 19 Black Sox, as the scandalous team may have been a shade better)

the '93 Jays really need to be considered... Didn't they have the top 3 leaders in batting average that year? Man, it's all gone downhill since then...

Just be sure if you use the '86 Mets (God Love 'Em) that you use the '86 Red Sox too so poor BillyBuck gets a chance to redeem himself.

Of course, if Bill Buckner's life is anything like MINE, it would all turn out like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day"...

I'd add the 1911 A's, the 1954-1955 Dodgers, the 1972-1974 A's, the 1961 Yankees. A case could be made for the 1915-1918 Red Sox, the Early 20's Giants, the 1988-1990 BashBrothers A's, The '03 Pirates, 1967 Cardinals, 1934 Tigers, and the infamous 1917-1919 "Black Sox", who, despite having 8 players involved in a game fixing scandal, were quite good.

I listed multiple years for some of those teams because they were dynasty type teams who were good for a few years at a time. I'd take a closer look and pick the year that looks best out of the ones I've listed for those teams.

I did do this once before many years ago before this SIM came out, using some Sierra baseball game- FPS I think? It was a while ago. I never got to finish everything before the game crashed and wiped everything out. Totally disgusted after months of research and entering data by hand, I never bothered to do it again, though with the ease of importing whole teams from the database, it's something I'm considering doing again.

Have fun and post some results!

If you're limiting the Yankees teams, the ones you really need are 1927, 1939, 1998. Maybe 1961, 1977-78. Just my $.02. Sounds great- can't wait to see the site!

Oh- and a few more that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet- 1962 Giants, 1934 Cards, 1995 Indians...

Cool

here's what I have so far last chance to add more teams.....
86 Mets, 88 Mets, 06 Cubs, 33 Cubs, 27 Yankees, 98 Yankees, 61 Yankees, 75 Reds, 31 A's, 29 A's, 11 A's, 88 A's, 54 Indians, 95 Indians, 09 Pirates, 57 Braves, 91 Braves, 84 Tigers, 68 Tigers, 69 Mets, 34 Tigers, 63 Dodgers, 41 Doders, 74 Dodgers, 55 Dodgers, 18 Red Sox, 86 Red Sox, 15 Red Sox, 93 Blue Jays, 80 Phillies, 12 Giants, 62 Giants, 42 Cardinals, 67 Cardinals, 34 Cardinals, 70 Orioles, 83 Orioles, 2001 Mariners, 19 White Sox, 59 White Sox, 17 White Sox.....

Now, this is not the final list, so here's the last chance to add teams for my consideration. Once the teams are final, I'll Post a division list and League list... The Leagues and Divisions wil be based on a lottery, so that way no one can say I'm screwing a certain franchise. So, if you don't see your favorite team, you still have a couple of days to add teams. Thanks guys for all your help.

Well, not that the Yankees need more teams, but you really should put the 1939 team in there- some writers think they're better than the 1927 team. 106-45, and won their 4th straight WS title. Won 99,102 and 102 in the previous seasons-that's dominance...

How about the 1990 Cincinnati Reds? They led their division wire to wire, had one of the best bullpens in MLB and beat the crap out of a heavily favored Oakland team

Solid list & a great idea. I'd like to put in 2 of my fave teams for consideration - the 65' Twins (102 game winners lost to the Koufax-led Dodgers in the WS) and the '77 KC Royals (also 102 game winners - lost to the Yanks in the 9th inning of the deciding ALCS game).

Just curious. Why the '33 Cubs? They didn't even win the NL that year. Or did you mean '32?
