Question on Player Development.

I recently started a new league with a start date of 1984 using Lahmans database. I am currently 36 games into the season and I noticed that not one team has had a player decrease or increase his talent. There is nothing listed under the Player Development link on the game or site.

Am I doing something wrong here? Its a concern for many of the GM's and I would also like to know how to fix this.

Please pass along any info you may have.

Thanks in advance
Mike B

You won't see much change during a season in player ratings. You'll see some, but most of your changes will come next year during Spring training.

Are you in career or replay mode? In replay mode I don't believe that players' talents change (although I could be wrong, as its been some time since I did a historical sim under replay).

It is actually under replay. Should or can I change that to career mode? I am 36 games into the season.

Thanks

I believe that if you change mode midseason it will automatically reset the league--but I could be wrong. I haven't played around with this sorta thing, so you should probably wait until someone with more experience with replays reads your message. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

At least I now know what is probably the problem.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that you can switch from replay to career (and vice versa) with no ill effects before, during or even after the season

Yes, that is indeed the issue. When you import a historical season, it automatically assumes you'll just be replaying that one season, so you have to manually toggle it to a Career mode to move on from season to season. And therefore, during the "Replay" portion of the season, it keeps player ratings static as to reach statistics with a fair amount of realism for that particular year.
