Hope I spelled that right If you watched tonight's Yankees game he sang God Bless America. I don't know what it is about the guy but I think he is great incredible voice. Or I may be biased. Last year when he came to NYC to sing God Bless America days after Sept 11th it was uplifting he became tops in my book. He lifted a whole City/ State (Now I hope he can lift the Yankees to a win.

Also, Troy Glaus has 2 HR's. The first one was to tie the game, the second one was to take the lead. For the Ynakees, Jeter Giambi, and Ventura all had homers.

nothing like a two out, two strike rally to kill the Angels spirit... would have been a great opportunity to steal one in NY

You have GOT to go to Percival there, I don't care if it's the 8th. The Angels needed this game. They're done.

heehehe..this by the book crap is out of control. They were saying on the radio this morning that now closers start the 9th to get 3 outs and that they aren't used to pitching from the stretch. Whose fault is that? A manager refuses to use a closer in anything but the ninth inning all year and then gets into a postseason situation where he needs that guy to win a game, and he doesn't go to him because he's not sure he's comfortable from the stretch? It's crazy!
The Angels absolutely needed game one. People were saying he should have been in there to face Giambi. I would have had Percival in at Jeter. The argument by Scioscia was that he would have burned his closer early in a series...you worry about late in a series when you get there. Especially a playoff rookie team playing the Yankees, you take wins when you can get them.
Bad move, and he will end up learning the hard way after the Angels get sent home for the year.

In all fairness, 4 time thi year Percival was asked to get more than 3 outs (brought in in the 8th). Of those 4 times, 2 of them he lost the game.

I dont recall the games and all, but word on the street has it that Percival is "less effective" when he has to sit between facing batters (IE coming out before 9th).

What I cant wait for is this. Torre said that Percival is a gret pitcher and all this, and pretty much said that he would have brought him in for the 8th. But how many people jump on Torre's back when in a tie game, he doesnt bring in Rivera in the 8th...I hope it happens just to see.

If Percival is not that effective after sitting down, then let someone else pitch the 9th. Your biggest threat there was facing Jeter, Giambi and Williams. The heart of the order. To let others pitch to those guys so you can save Percival to face Posada, Ventura, Mondesi and White makes zero sense to me.

In the postseason, you need to play for the moment. You may not get another one.

I think you meant to say let somebody else pitch the 9th which I totally agree with. Bring in your best pitcher at the most important time of the game - 8th OR 9th inning. If you have to go to somebody else in the 9th, so be it!

I'd rather have my stud pitcher in the game at that point in the 8th with men on than in the 9th with the bases empty.

And yes I thought this BEFORE the Yanks tied it up. He should have been in to face Jeter.

I agree with ya G. Too many are worried about "ego" and "roles" to know whats best for them...last night was case in point.

As soon as Soriano was on I said they needed to get Percival ready. Especially in Yankee Stadium. Play for the moment.

These are the things inexperience causes in the postseason. That is the biggest advantage the Yanks have over anybody else.

Wow...I didn't know that. All the more reason. Angels COULD be up 2-0 right now very easily.
