2005 Pick: NL East
Here's the 2005 version of the baseball polls. Pick the team you think will win the division. Like in real baseball, each of the division winners and a wild card will go to the playoffs and the Talk Sports forum will determine our pick for World Series champs in 2005.

I can't pick against the Braves. I've done that a few times the last 13 years. So, I'll pick them every year until they don't win the division.

Voting with my heart, not my head. I'd really like to see a team not from Atlanta win it; and I think the Muts will surprise some this year with all their Yankee emultation this off-season.

Problem here is they're trying to emulate the 2001-present Yankees rather than the 96-00 team. |

I am going to take the Braves in this one because I always pick against them and they always make me mad.

Atlanta is supposed to be in the decline pretty much every year and Bobby Cox still finds a way to win the division.
As long as Bobby Cox is the manager, I'll be picking the braves. |

I think the Mets will finally get their **** together and win....or they will do the complete opposite. I don't think they'll be in the middle though.

You guys are all being fooled! Everyone's picked against the Braves for the last few years and they've won, so now that everyone's picking them, it's time for them to fall.

I can't pick the Braves anymore then I could pick the Red Sox. So, I went with the Marlins.

What is up with no baseball 'experts' talking about the Braves lineup? |

Pedro is going to break down, Ishii will be a disaster and the Mets will be an expensive failure even for a team known for being an expensive failure. I'll keep picking the Braves until they lose.

I picked the Braves but the offense is going to be suspect, so if they do keep the streak alive they are going to need a little luck and probably a midseason trade or two.

I think the Braves will have a better offense than most people are expecting. As it stands now, they project to get outstanding offensive production from everywhere but first base and the outfield corners--the easiest places to find good offense.
Just PLEASE give Langerhans a shot before Brian Jordan. |

I picked the Phillies. Bowa/Trillo are as good as anyone at turning 2. As bad as Luzinski has gotten with the glove, he's still a monster at the plate and Maddox should minimize the outfield deficiencies. No one holds down the corners like Schmidt and Rose - and I truly believe Schmidt is going to be the next Scott Rolen. And the pitching should be awesome this year...Carlton is the staff ace, but Bob Walk and Marty Bystrom project to having Mark Prior-like careers. With Nenn out of the game, Tugger might be the best closer in baseball. I can't imagine picking anyone else.

As a Mets fan.. I'll take a team that finishes with the record of the 2001-2004 Yankees any day. Unfortunately as a Mets fan I know that offseason hype doesn't usually pan out to a 90 win season. I'll be happy as long as they finish with 82 or more wins. |
