what exactly should I be reading into that?

I don't think Malleus likes me and I'm not sure why, but I definitely appreciate his contributions to the OOTP community and think that it is a better place because of him.

really good at it. Humble guy doesn't need his ego stroked, he needs no recognition, so he doesn't seek it. He retires because other things in life are important to him. Maybe humble guy wants to spend more time with his family. Maybe humble guy wants a less stressful life. Who knows what humble guy values, he's too humble to tell you.

The other guy sounds like everyone takes advantage of him. Everybody knows his work. He's really outgoing, he tells everybody how great his work is. He's widely recognized for his work he tells everyone about. He widely known for being excellent at his work, when other people in his field don't feel like working, they come up to outgoing guy and say "Boy, work sure is complicated, I just can't figure it out, maybe you could help me out, and do it for me?" Outgoing guy, who's know for his work, because he tells everyone how good he is, says "Sure I'll do it for you, even though I'm already doing Rob and Steve and Jay's work!" Nobody wants outgoing guy to retire, he does his work too well. When you ask outgoing guy what he values he'll tell you this and that and whatfor, but you can tell by how he works, what he really values are people. He can't retire, he needs people to tell him how good his work is. Outgoing guy needs people to tell how good his life, how good his work is, how famous he is for his work. If he retires, there goes all that validation. If he retires maybe he'd have to figure out what's valueable to him. Besides his work. He's good at it, just ask him. When a light shines, thousands of moths try to block it out.

Yes, threads like this hurt the community--because a group of people can't give up an attack and it turns off newcomers not only to the forum but possibly to the game itself. If someone bugs you that much there is this feature called "ignore" . . .

I'd like to leave you with a great piece of advice that my guru gave me that I have never forgotten to this day. He said "always..." wait, no, it was "never..." no, no it was "always carry a little trash bag in your car. That way you can put your garbage in the bag and when it gets full you can just chuck it out the window."
