**** Question for Markus or Steve ****

Hey all-

Just a quick question about the future of the OOTP Series-

Will OOTP ever feature a "Head-to-Head" option? The ability to play your opponent over the internet.

I've always though such an option would be HUGE.

Imagine, playing against your online league rivals head-to-head in the playoffs !!

Thanks,
HP

This would elevate the online league experience tremendously...image "Monday Night Baseball" making a return, "Game of the Week" etc.

This has been brought up before and should be bumped to the top often

Thanks,

it would be cool to let others watch the game too...not just the two playing...

sure would, but that would complicate things I'm guessing beyond doable scope. A work around would be to allow for cut and paste abilities from the pbp side of the game which would allow pasting into a chat room or ICQ or AIM or something along those lines.

not really, you'd just have to funnel play results to a server and store it. Each of the viewers would make successive requests to get the next play. Each play would have an id of some kind which the server to use to reference which play was next. Involved, but doable.

The DMB baseball game allows that option thru "NETMEETING". I have played it vs an opponent. You take turns controlling the mouse to start plays and make lineup changes and substitutions. You can not see the choices your opponent makes with the mouse such as hit and run, bunt, squeeze , etc. It is hidden from you. However, a standard 9 inning game may take 45 minutes to an hour to play compared to a solo game vs the computer manager in 15 to 20 minutes.

Fluharty - good point, what I was trying to say was that I would prefer the capability to play vs somebody else first without the entire method with others watching along too. That would be my prioritization.

I couldnt imagine that it would be any different from an online card game like Yahoo Euchre Online.

It is something that we have talked about numerous times, not certain of it's inclusion at this point.

I dont think its very high on the list. I believe that they have so many wheels turning just to make OOTP5 and OOTP4.2 better than ever, there just isnt enough time for this as well. Thanks as always for the info Steve.

Not sure about this BUT it is quite a BIG chunk of work, I would imagine not a simple task...
