Holding on for Dear Life
Why do we all join Online Leagues? Because we love the competition. So I just wanted to take some time out and point out the races that are going on in one of my leagues.
In the USBBL we are approaching our last sim of the year, and not one race has been decided yet. There are 10 teams fighting it out for 4 playoff spots. That is it. No one has one locked up yet. In the Continental League (CL) East, Detroit, who has won more championships than any other team and has only missed the playoffs one time in the league's 8 seasons, is holding on to a slim 1 game lead over Carolina, who have never made the playoffs. Carolina has faltered over the last week giving up more than a 5 game lead to Detroit. Richmond is not out of this race too as they are 6 games out with 11 days to go in the season. Can Carolina stop the powerhouse Detroit team to make their first playoff ever? Can Richmond leap frog them both? Or will Detroit flex their might and win it all again. The next sim will tell us. In the CL West, Green Bay has built a 5 game lead over San Antonio. Now that race might look finished but you have to put it into context. San Antonio has never finished lower than Second and Green Bay has never finished higher than 3rd. Green Bay has been the laughing stock of the league for a long time, while San Antonio has been a model of success. They came into the league as an expansion team in 2006. They finished in second place that year and the next year (their second in the league) won it all. This year the Encaustic owner in Green Bay promised a 90-win season and came through on that promise, but is 90+ wins enough to hold off San Antonio? The next sim will tell us. In the Manifest League (ML) East, Jacksonville is holding on to a 3 game lead over Tennessee. Jacksonville is filled with fan favorites such as Harry Pleasant (34-year old pitcher who is having his best year ever) and Dave Martinez (a light hitting rookie that is known for his glove work). Tennessee is a young fun team that is trying to win its second ML East crown in two years. While Tennessee and Jacksonville fight it out can Trenton, a team only 6 back of Jacksonville, sneak in and take the crown away? They finish the year in Jacksonville so it could come down to that day. Can the old aging pitching staff of Jacksonville hold off the young talented teams of Tennessee and Trenton? The next sim will tell us. In the ML West, Las Vegas holds a two-game lead on Madison. Las Vegas was last year's runner up to New York and would like to get a chance to redeem themselves, but they have exerted a lot of energy to take the lead from Madison, who has never made the playoffs in their team's history. After the All-star game Madison had a 10 game lead on Las Vegas and has since steamed rolled to take the 2-game edge. Does Las Vegas have anything left in the tank for the last 11 days? Can the young Madison team shock the world and win the ML West? The next sim will tell all. The races are tight and the last sim should be a lot of fun. If you have any interest in joining this league to take part of great races like that, you can contact me at jaxmagicman@hotmail.com or Mike Stankiewicz at Stankiem@hotmail.com. We do have one team open (LA Stars, at the moment and could use a good GM. Here is our constitution for you to look at. If you have any question we can answer them in our Forum. Come be part of an amazing league with some of the greatest baseball minds to own OOTP.

Me too. I can't wait for tonight. I have a feeling I could lose my 3 game lead. I play Boston and New York, plus your team and Trenton. You made the USBBL Championship game last year against New York so I know both those teams are good, and Trenton and Boston are always tough on me.

Ok, so Jacksonville held on, they finished 2 games up. Tennessee had a chance to tie on the last day of the year but I beat TRENTON and that was that. Las Vegas had to have a one game playoff with Madison to win their Crown. Green Bay ran away with the Division as San Antonio crooked. Detroit was able to flex their muscles and beat Carolina. Thanks for reading. There are no longer any open positions, but remember the USBBL because I will be back to ask for GM's if another one comes open.
