Keep the draft moving! Can't wait to sim!
Great minds think alike. I was just going to suggest that to you. For some reason, their talents imports at the same levels as their ratings

And Stengl doesn't count...I think he's a Hall of Famer isn't he?

Yup, I got the Bevens one. It was Cookie Lavagetto who got the hit.

Some other ones I can think of...

Aaron Boone, anyone? (Wait, scratch that. I just checked, and he actually made an all-star game. We can spend some other time discussing how in the hell that ever happened)
Joe Adcock (wait...damnit. 1-time all-star. I think he easily would have been the best player to have never made an All-Star game, but 1960 ruined that.)

I can't think anymore.

Yes, he is a HOFer, but not as a player. No way as a player. I don't know if Matt makes a distinction here. We'll leave it up to his discretion.

I'll probably go for the "all-obscure, all-weird name" team

Casey should be eligible. He was a decent player in his day, but made the Hall because of his managing with the Yanks.

Yes, Bevens lost that game. I also think that was Lavagetto's last major league AB (and hit)

Exactly, he and others like Lasorda, Herzog, Larussa, Zimmer, Mack, etc are HOF managers so they are eligible as players. Well, they're not all HOF'ers. Plenty of managers who were former players nowadays too.

And I'm about to update the draft.

While we're just sitting around waiting, I'll let you know that at some point (max 10 years likely) we will add another 12 teams. So if others are interested in a team at that point, they can have one of those.

Not to ruffle feathers, but I'd like to object (if at all possible) to the selections of Thomas and Pujols. I know it may be too late to change anything, but I think Matt needs a new rule: If you select an active player, then when you take his averages per 162 or whatever, they can't be HOF quality. Let's be honest, Albert Pujols is in the top 3 all-time First-Four-Years. It's him, Ted Williams, and Cobb, I would think. The fact is, when you import Pujols, you're importing a Half of Fame caliber player, no doubt. I don't think he belongs.

As for Thomas, come on. The guy is an easy, EASY hall of famer. Had maybe the best hitting streak of 5+ years since Ted Williams. Owned the early to mid 1990s. I think we forget just how incredible he was as a hitter. As it stands now, he has 436 HR, 2113 hits, 1450 walks, and a career OBP of .429. He still has a few years left. He'll get 500 HR. He has the 11th highest OBP of all time.

Come on people. Tell me one of you would not vote for Thomas to get inducted to Cooperstown.

That's my two cents. Had a few minutes, figured a good rant was in order.

Can't necessarily disagree, but we're just going with what Matt gave us. Maybe after round two he can add more guys to the off limits list or tighten the rules.

DY, read over the past couple pages. F-Jager (sorry, don't want to attempt spelling that) already brought that up. In my opinion, if he's not on the list put up by Matt, he's fair game.

Once again, it's not a league.

In future seasons, yes. Each draft should be 3 rounds.

DY, I agree that Pujols (if he keeps up his pace) is a HOF'er. Thomas too I suppose, but then I'd have to go back and take off Jackson & make Rose off limits. We'll just live with what we've got, but I'll be more strict after round 2 to some degree. My priority is speed at this point.
