Player Development showing players not on my team

I don't get this at all. My player development screen says things like "Rickey Henderson has lost bat speed, resulting in less contact." But Rickey isn't even on my team. Not in the majors, not in the minors, not in the DFA area. Nowhere. Have no idea why this is happening.

Solo league? Online league? Human controlled team?

Check the date it says that. Was he ever your team?

Solo league, and no, he's never been on my team. DAL 9000 suggested good old Rickey might be in the free agent pool, but it's still no reason for him to show up on my player development page.

True, but if we're going to have a chance of figuring out what's wrong, we have to know the details

It's likely a file got corrupted at some point, but whether it's a problem in the master player file or just the HTML reports has to be determined.

I'm using CBL's 2.1 roster set, and this isn't the first league I've used it in that I've seen this problem.

1. Back up your league now by copy and pasting to another location on your hard drive.

2. Do a player search in OOTP and see where he is. If he's already on a team, say the Cubs, for example, note it.

3. Sim ahead a full season and go directly to Spring training. Move most of Rickey's points to one attribute and then run Spring Training.

4. Go to the Cubs Player Development Report and see if Rickey's there.

5. Check and see if he shows up on your team's Player Development Report. If he does, is his development the same as it said with the Cubs? If he didn't show up, your problem is solved.

6. Now if he shows up but his development was different than that which was reported on the Cubs page, you have two Rickey Hendersons in your roster set. Have the maker double check it to see where the phantom Rickey is.

7. If he shows up and the development was the same, you have a corrupted league file. Live with it or dump it. It's your choice.

8. If Rickey didn't show up at all on your team, you should be fine with your league from now on. Trash the league file and replace it with the backup you made in step #1 and continue with your league knowing the same problem won't happen...for now.
