Game crashed after playing a game, now rosters won't load

The game crashed right after I finished a game. Now, when I load up OOTP, it shows the standings with nobody in the leaderboards, and when I go to sim it just hangs there. It's like the rosters aren't there.. what am I to do?

Sadly that means your league file is corrupted. Not much you can do unless you have a backup you can restore. This has happened to me at some very inopportune times.

This is similar to what happened to me. I just started my season, played my first game and when the box score came up, it crashed. Some questions:

Could this be because I had my McAfee Virus and Firewall on?

Is it that the sound is on (previous posts I now see indicate that could be a problem with direct x)?

Did 6.11 solve the sound issue and crashing?

Any idea how a league file can get corrupted?

It is the "in game" sounds being on, turning them off solves this though not sure if the league can be saved. Problem is not corrected, though I believe if you DO NOT have XP SP-2 sound will work.

this has happened to me a couple times where the game has crashed or the computer has and i get that. just restoring the league though didnt fix the problem, atleast not with the restore league option. I had to copy the game files too, I keep the entire game folder saved on a cd backup so I just copied over the corrupted one and restored my last backup. I dont play with the sound on so I cant give you any advice on that part.

All I can suggest is to learn from this. Backup your league file (the xxxxx.lg) often so when you run into something like this, you can simply start up again with your backup. You may lose some games but at least you don't lose the whole league file.

I'm confused. Are you saying that restore league files THEN turn sound off should solve the problem?

OR

Are you saying I have to completely uninstal and reinstal the program (presumably restoring system files for the game)? Then turn sound off?

I don't want to restore league (which I did before draft - last stupid mistake I make hopefully) to go through it all over again and have the same issue.

That's true. I didn't update to XP SP-2 and I haven't had any crashes. I don't feel a need to update because I feel pretty safe with Norton Internet Security.

Sidenote : I did actually update to SP-2 for about 2 days. OOTP, The Sims & Simcity started crashing so I went back to SP-1. Even with SP-1 you get all the same security updates. For me, Norton Internet Security does the rest.

Some security features, I believe you can uninstall it in the add/remove programs.

I have a machine (3g processor, 1gig RAM, 256 video card) that should run OOTP with ease, however I get slow performance and constant crashes - and this is with all the recommendations (I format and rebuild every 6 months or so and just did) AV turned off, no spy ware, etc. I am in the tech business and I have several PC's this one is very streamlined - XP, Office, Madden and OOTP and pretty much nothing else.

I hope my post didn't come off too bitter - I have said it before and I will say it again a million times - I have gotten more value out of the money I have spent on OOTP then any other single purchase in my life.

This is not accurate. If you have anything above directx 9.0 it will crash. SP-2 or not. SP-2 is not the problem.

Well, it's very possible - even likely - that 9.0 was the highest version available at the time OOTP6 was released. That would mean any updates to DirectX above 9.0 could be the cause of the problem.
