Longest running multi-owner leagues - Page 2

Montgomery Brewster Baseball Association (MBBA), a fictional league with MLB defectors yearly, is now in its' 13th season and going strong. Many original owners and a very active community.

Other Reality Baseball (ORB), a historical league that began with the 1982 season, is now in its' 11th season and also going strong.

besides the ORB and NAHHBL which have already been mentioned, other leagues I'm in have been running strong since the summer of '02....

JBL-- began play with the 2002 season, currently in the 2019 offseason.

RWBL - began play at the same time as the JBL, currently in September of the 2018 season.

ABA - started in summer of '02, began play in 1987, currently beginning the 2000 season.

OTBL - not really a league, it's actually just a big hoax perpetuated on the OOTP OT community (but you didn't hear that from me.)

UBL - can't remember when this league formed, i believe it was late '02, started in the 1927 season, currently in the 1936 season, this league takes a bit longer to advance to each new season because negro leaguers and PCLers have to be researched and then manually entered into the game, but currently under it's 3rd dedicated commissioner, the league is running stronger than ever. Plus, any league that features me and Aussie Mark as GM's is a damn good league.

I've been fortunate that no league I have ever joined has ever folded, and I've never quit any league I've ever joined, nor have I been kicked out!!! (yep, I'm what they call the perfect GM) I've also been with several of these leagues since they opened their doors (JBL, ABA, UBL), or joined within a season or two of the formation (RWBL, ORB). Although the NAHHBL was several seasons old when I joined, I got an expansion team, so I've been with that team since it began IT's existence, so that should count for something....it's been nice to be able to build up a nice history with all of the different teams that I run. (if someone edits "into the ground" onto the end of the sentence, I will not be happy.)

OTBL is in its 10th season I believe- something like 60% of the original (and supposed to be original) owners are around.

Hey! Wait a minute...

The JOBL's been a pleasure to be a part of. While we've only got 3 original owners left (I'm not one of them), there's quite a few owners who've been around several years.

The DDB in my sig has over 15 seasons of history, with about 10 of those seasons as an active online league. It's unique in its additional player ratings: outside OOTP ratings that our commish uses to influence the in-game ratings (no, he doesn't own a team). We're just finishing up 1961 and I believe there's an opening or two this offseason.

NARBL - Historical league
Started in Summer of 2002
Entering its 15th Season!
8 original owners and about 7 owners that have been with us most of the 15 seasons.

WLB - Fictional League
Started spring of 2002
Currently in 14th season!
5 original onwers with 5-6 that have been with us most of the time.
Rename players to get a great international feel.

These are two fun leagues.

The Computer Baseball League re-started in April 2000 right after the release of OOTP2, following three real-time years or so using FPS. I don't think there are many leagues remaining from that period (Crackerjack, mentioned by Aussi Mark above, is another one of those still around). We have 10 out of the 24 original owners and the league is in a pretty good shape after almost five years of OOTP. Probably because it's an easy-going, just-for-fun type of league.

The number of seasons a league has run means nothing really since some leagues sim at a much faster pace than others. 20 or 30 seasons is impressive until you see that a league sims a 12 weeks of a season each real week.

The USBA is now in its 12th season. We sim 1 week at a time, 3 times per week. We began in March 2002.

Here's the impressive part – from the 20 teams in that inaugural season we still have 15 of the people involved as team owners in the league. 3 of our 4 expansion owners (which came aboard in our third season) are still running their original teams. The success of the USBA is derived from the solid ownership base that has kept the league consistent and thriving.

Many people here don't even know about the USBA because we have never advertised for owners here. We do no recruiting and really don't keep a formal waiting list. If someone wants to join the USBA they usually send an email and I keep their info handy in case we do have an opening. We add people that seem to be a good fit with what we already have on board.

Plus, Legend, fictional leagues weren't all that popular back when you launched yours. It was even worse during OOTP2, where it was real-player, historical or the express way. The only fictional that popped out at the time had to close down due to lack of interest. Seems unreal now.

Well, the CDL now has been simming since April of 2002 without ever missing a scheduled sim or deadline! We started in 1969 and are currently halfway through the 2001 season which puts us on the brink of catching and surpassing MLB.

We have every player of the month ever announced archived here starting with Harmon Killebrew, Steve Blass, Rico Carty, and Grant Jackson to the most recent winners, Kerry Wood, Bobby Abreu, Jake Westbrook, and Gary Sheffield.

Every season's history including corresponding html files, world series results, and yearly award winners are found here!

We have each franchise history data here which shows San Francisco boasting the most victories (3,027) while Philadelphia is on the other end with the most losses (2,904).

And finally, the CDL wouldn't be the CDL without the scrolling marquee of champions!

I almost forgot the most important reason why the CDL is now in its 33rd season and that is the owners! There aren't many leagues out there with the kind of ownership that the CDL has enjoyed all these season. I thank each and every one of them immensely!

I hate to correct Matt, but we started in August 2001, since I remember joining the CDL just before I started law school, which I finished in less time than it took for us to get to current times. Otherwise, I wholeheartedly agree with everything else said.

I will say that the CBL website has always been one of my favorites in design.

Not to upset anyone, but I liked the previous design (the one with a black background) a lot more then the newer design. Of course, the new design is still awesome.
