Recomended free FTP?
Can anyone tell me of a good, free FTP program that will allow me to upload my league to hostultra?

Yep, I recommend FileZilla too. Free and easy to use for a newbie.

I use it for my league website. I use OOTP6's ftp for the reports though. FileZilla is great.

Filezilla rules. I also run an FTP server running their server software, and that's great too.

I recommend that you browse the web with Firefox and get the fireFTP extension.

I honeslty think FileZilla sucks. I use it and it takes an hour and a half to up to 3 hours to upload all my files.

I have a multiple page website with loads of graphics and FileZilla transfers everything with blazing speed. I've used it a few times to do my OOTP League Reports and I'd have to say that it's as fast or even faster than OOTP6's ftp transfer.
Footballfan, maybe it's your computer that sucks(sorry but just choosing your vocabulary) and not the software. I get my online league files uploaded from Japan to my server in Colorado in 15 to 18 minutes average and my multipage website transferred in less than a minute and a half. FileZilla has an easy interface which also shows the list of files as they upload and lets you know exactly which ones couldn't be transferred, for any reason. Great program! and it's free!

Yep, maybe the flaw is on your side, Footballfan. It's definitely faster than the OOTP6 FTP, at least in my books.

Just ran a test. FileZilla uploaded my "Complete" League Reports(which include 15 days of box scores and game logs) in 10 minutes and 37 seconds. You're welcome to browse my league reports: www.baseball.montoyahome.com Just click the league reports link on the left Nav bar.

Oh..Sorry. You have to generate the reports first in the Online League setup. Sfter you generate the reports and they are in the folder you specified, THEN hit upload to ftp server. OOTP6 takes about 20% more time than FileZilla.

Actually I have a very good internet connection. Could there be a problem with my connection though? I mean I can browse the internet with no problems at all. I clear my computer of spy ware atleast once a week, what could the problem be?

Could be you are using some free webspace? Find out the following:
1. Do they support ftp? If not. You aren't going to get anywahere. 2. What bandwidth they allow you? This can potentially ruin a league. Go over the limit and you won't be able to upload any more until the next month. This is an in & out limit that is usually set so that free accounts don't interfere with paying accounts bandwidth usage. Also, this gets worse during busy hours for free accounts because paying customers always have priority for bandwidth usage, renderring your account inaccessible for periods of time. 3. Can you upload other things? For example some photos? How long does that take? Try uploading about 10 - 20 photos, or 5MB worth of them, and see how long it takes. The best way to get fast uploads: 1. Have a fast pc. 2. Pay for a reliable ftp account on a nearby server that doesn't limit bandwidth 3. Be sure to run experiments with dummy leagues. Upload them with varying sizes. (8-20MB depending on the size of your league) If your pc is like mine with a 3 Ghz P4 processor and at least 512MB RAM and you pay for a good server, your upload time won't exceed 12-15 minutes. If your pc specs are lower, expect upload times to be longer. If you do not pay for a good, reliable server with unlimited bandwidth, you can add even more time to that.
