Changing Txt file to .CSV File?
I am new to Windows XP, and I downloaded a text file of the 2005 schedule I'd like to import to my OOTP 6.11 season.
Problem is, before I can import it, I have to change a .txt file to a .csv file. How do I do that? It was easier to do with Windows 98 when renaming files. This Windows XP only gives me 2 options, text or all files. Arrrggg! Thanks |

For those schedule files, you actually do not even have to change the filename extension from .txt to .csv - the game will read it as a .txt file just fine. The only key is that the .txt file be in the csv format, which those schedule files all are (or should be and are in error if they are not).
For completeness , an easy way to change file names in XP, without opening the file in the file manager browser window (whatever is is called) where you can see your files in a folder and the icon or file details, just click on the filename so that it turns into white text on a little blue background with a flashing cursor bar inside a little black outline box, click again on the filename to put the cursor somewhere in the filename, then just change whatever you want, like "txt" to "csv".Or if you open the file in a text editor, then go to resave it, you can specify to save it as a text file but replace the ".txt" with ".csv" in the filename. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Your suggestions still don't help me though. I opnened the file and tried to resave it as .csv. It will only allow me to as a .txt file or 'all files". I double clicked on the name of the file, but all I would be changing is the name, it doesn't allow me to save the file type as .csv. I am starting to get frustrated! Any other suggestions? Again, I am VERY new to Windows XP and I am starting to miss '98. I don't think I would have had this problem with '98, but I definitely don't want to go back. HA.

I just found out it has to do with the folder options. Thanks anyway.
