Has this idea been bandied about before? You take the idea behind OOTP's online baseball league and add it to boxing. Each owner is given a certain amount of cash in which to build his stable of fighters. A fighter's worth would of course be tied to his rating. You have an initial free agency period in which there is a bidding war. After that, you try to petition other owners to fight your man. Bouts can also be mandated by the commissioner.

I could be down for that if there was a way to link the fights so both could participate. If someone can come up with a feasable way to do say from a server where it could be remotely accessed i am down.

Hmmm...Brooks,...I'm in a ootp6 Baseball league and had the same thought. Sounds interesting.

Seems to me a couple of different guys here have suggested something along these lines. Don't know whatever became of them.

I tried running a fictional online boxing league a few months ago. I gave people a certain number of points that, depending on how you distributed them, could produce fighters with overall ratings from 6 to 13. The league eventually died from inactivity/host problems.
I was thinking about re-opening the league in a few months once I re-did the sign-up process (instead of dispersing points for ratings, give people a lump sum of money to purchase points, cornermen, etc...) I think the problem with using TBCB for online leagues is that you're very limited in what you're able to do simply using the sim. You would have to create a majority of the pages on your own (the only web-ready pages I've seen the sim create are fighter XML pages and card/schedule results). I also think that, in order to keep people's interest, you have to create -other- things for people to do with the league (for example, in my league, fighters earned cash for winning/losing fights, but there was nowhere to hold it in the sim). I ended up creating my own database outside the sim and kept track of things like win/loss record, fighter earnings, fighter experience, fighter aging, venue information, fighter bonuses for winning titles, etc... I think it's doable to run a fantasy boxing league (whether you use fighters currently in the sim or have people create their own fighters). I personally think it takes a lot of work -outside- the sim to make the league work.

If you want to see what the league looked like (it's closed for the time being), here's the link:
