OOTP5 League Off-season Openings
This is yet another ad for the EL/SA combination of the old Class A structure from the '40's - http://www.buffalowarriors.com/elsa/
We have reached the end of our first online season and await the playoffs where Birmingham, Atlanta, Hartford, and Utica will face off for the crown. We have recently filled our Binghamton and Wilkes-Barre Openings with solid dedicated owners, but other vacancies have popped up. This league is going to be here for the long haul. Please don't have any reservations about joining for fear of folding. I have put too much into it to allow that to happen. I am trying to create a complete history of this league of 35 seasons or more. The first seven seasons were simmed to provide some history and allow the financial model to settle. We use a Catobase to lend to the history and realism. The financial model is a challenge, but I find it fun in certain aspects. It will make you think and act more like an old time minors manager on a limited budget! Enhanced participation of owners who take over computer squads will make it more fun for everyone. We have five squads who are available now. There will be a decent amount of time between the Championship series and the start of the offseason to allow for the update of the Catobase and the history sections of the website. This will not only allow new owners a chance to get familiar with their teams, but also allow them to get arbitration eligible players released if they need to. The teams available for takover are Albany, Mobile, Little Rock, Memphis, and Birmingham. History and returning player breakdowns are coming to the website soon. IN the meantime, here are some descriptors: Albany (73-65, 3rd in the Eastern League) - 1944 Champions. Minor league system: 16th (of 16). One of three profitable franchises in 1945, should be a player in the FA market. Mobile (60-78, Tie-6th in the Southern Association) - Minor League system: 15th. #8 in attendance, could increase $8 ticket to gain additional revenues. Little Rock (60-78, Tie-6th in the Southern Association) - Minor League system: 14th. Returning most of its starting rotation at very cheap prices. Memphis (72-66, Tie-3rd in the Southern Association) - Minor League system: 11th. LF Claude MacFarlane signed through 1950 at $5.55M, Career OPS: 1.074 http://shoots.dyndns.org/nerco/ootpreport/p597.html Birmingham (74-64, 2nd in the Southern Association) - Won 1939 Championship! Minor League system: 5th. HIGH PRIORITY OPENING!! TEAM IS IN THE PLAYOFFS! 2nd highest revenue of any team in Class A. Ace Robert Slye signed through 1948. Had a 2.05 ERA in '45. This is the best squad available and we'd really like to have someone piloting it through the playoff tournament. We hold live sims every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The sim schedule is an alternating 7/8/7 and 8/7/8 schedule to facilitate better use of the DL and make sure owners don't feel rushed. Please E-mail me at the address below if interested! It would be great to have you be a part of the league as we move forward into 1946! -Bob rjw8625@rochester.rr.com <!-- / message --><!-- sig --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --> |

I felt it would help prospective owners make a more informed decision.
The Class A championship series will be held tomorrow night. Arbitration eligible releases are due then. If would be advantageous to get in now if interested. |

The Atlanta Crackers have won the 1945 Class A Championship. Someone is in the process of taking over Albany right now as well. I am going to take some time to make updates to our webpage and catobase before the next season. All of the remaining opening are in the Southern Association. Be the guy who ends Atlanta's run of 4 straight championship series appearances! Memphis, Little Rock, and Mobile available! -Bob |
