Ankit's db has them by when they started playing steadily in the majors.

So for example in the lahman db...a player will imports say at 18...with extremely low current ratings but what you may expect from them in regards to talent ratings. In Ankit..the same player may not have "started" playing full time till he was 22...which is when he will import in Ankit's db...with developed ratings, leaving less chance for random development which will at times reduce a player like Ty Cobb or Babe Ruth to never develop if you use lahman.

So in a nutshell...lahman db will have accurate debut years...and more random development which will cause some stars never to be stars and some scrubs to turn themselves into legends whereas the ankit db will have inaccurate debut years but will have increased chance of the true MLB legends to be just that.

If you are using the lahman db, you should also be aware of the players who played as both a pitcher and position player during there career (Joe Wood, Babe Ruth ect) will import in as what they debut as. The game will not intervene and change them for you...so for instance in Babe Ruth's case...he will will import in as a left-handed pitcher...and will remain so unless you step in. Ankit's db has a George Ruth for the pitcher, and a Babe Ruth for the OF who will import seperately at appropiate times.

Okay, that makes sense.

So, say some friends and I were drafting teams of players from 1900 - 1994 to see who can put together the best team. The agreement was to then sim a season to see which ones are the best. We originally agreed to use the 3rd best season for each player as the baseline for the player.

Will I be able to specify certain seasons to import using the Lahman or Ankit db? Or do I have to use their debut season (Lahman) and/or the first regular season with PT (Ankit)? Is there a way to utilize career averages?

If none of those options is available, what would be the best alternative for such a sim?

If there is no way to do this easily, would a solution be to go in and remove all but the drafted players and their 3rd best seasons and then edit the year of the season to be the same for every one? Would that work? Make sense?
