Wearing enemy logos

I was out late last night with my wife and it was very, very cold. She had neglected to bring a hat when she left the house, and we ended up having to wait for a bus outside in the cold. So we went to the 7-11 across the street to see if they had hats.

Well, they did, but all the hats they had were emblazoned with Yankee logos. Now, as a Mets fan, there is a natural antipathy toward the Yankees in me. I can't say I hate them like a Red Sox fan would, but there's a definite part of me that doesn't take kindly to wearing their logo around.

My wife looked at me and asked if it was okay. Of course, I said it was. I mean, it was just too cold for her to go without a hat. I'm not sure why she even asked.

It got me wondering, though. I'm sure there are people who are so opposed to wearing logos of their hated rivals that they would have said no or at least not bought one for themselves.

Where do you fall on that scale?

In that situation, there's not much you can do. I would've probably asked her to turn the hat inside out though.

I can't support wearing enemy logos. Would you blithely accept the Mark of the Beast?

I gotta agree. No way in hell does Yankees, Braves, Raiders, Cowboys, or Celtics gear ever get worn by me. Just ain't happening.

as a Lions fan, the only enemy logo that could be worn would be the mug of owner William Clay Ford.

Logo are only important when they mean something. If my wife needed a hat and she was not aware of my hatred for the Giants, it wouldn't bother me for her to wear one. She couldn't bring it in the house or wear it in my presence, though. And she couldn't keep it in the car. And she'd have to wash her hands before touching food or our children. And we couldn't have sex until the diabolic Northern California influence wears off, unless of course she wanted "angry sex".

I'd buy the hat and then see if they had any stickers I could slap on the hat.

In that case, I'd probably have gotten the Red Sox hat, but worn it inside out. No way do I buy anything for the Red Sox without it being absolutely mandatory. I can't see wearing anything for the Eagles, Vikings or Lakers either.

I try to avoid wearing anything with a St. Louis reference on it. I just have issues with cities that worship a known fascist.

No. Because when you buy merchandise you are empowering that team to play for players.

My wife would of gotten pneumonia

If you had stolen the hat then I would of been perfectly ok with this.

I thought everyone in RI was Sox fans anyways.

About 75% Red Sox, 24% Yankees, 1% else (I would be in the 1%).

Hell, I've still got the tattered remnants of my Washington Bullets bumper sticker on my car.

I'm diehard.

I'm guessing that 24% of Yankees fans is based mainly in the southern area of the state. I live in Stonington (Connecticut), and the RI border is right beyond my backyard. Lemme tell ya.. I go to Westerly and it's mostly Italian imports with relatives in NYC. 90% Yankees fans there, and 10% are Red Sox fans that moved from the town I live in. =)

Edit: Very few 'other' fans here, either. Of course I'm one of them.. and a friend of mine likes the Br... the Brav... the.. *chokes on his own vomit*.

Yeah, people ask me what team I like. When I say the Mets, it's like they've never heard of the team before. "The Mets? Oh, okay. At least you're not a [Yankees/Red Sox] fan."

Did you dispose of the hat with an evil logo when you didn't need it anymore?

Under no circumstances will you see me wearing a Mets or Red Sox hat, outside of a lost bet.

I will not even make a wager where wearing something with the New York Jets is involved.

My wife, however, is free to wear whatever clothing she desires. She knows my feeling about such teams, though, and shares likewise feelings.
