Potential 30 game winner
In my fictional league, Frank Feinkohl has some outstanding numbers at the midway point of the season (end June)
In 22 starts, he's 17-1 with a 2.37 Era, 4 CG's, 2 Sho. Other numbers - Avg .172, Obp .271, Slg .238 Only 16 extra base hits allowed, 4 Dbl, 4 Tpl, 8 Hr. 174.2 Ip's, 155 K's With 3 months to go, and around 18 - 20 starts, he could be a 30 game winner. It would the first one I've ever had. Anyone else have a 30 game winner before? BTW - Frank is 26 years old, in his 5th big league season. He gets to ask for the big bucks after this one. His record in his 1st 4 seasons: 67 - 27, 2.37 Era |

I wish I could get him on my fictional league team... (or even better on my OOL team

Closest I had was a guy who went 29-2 with a 2.23 era (or something close to that). I think much like your player there he had about 17 wins at the allstar break and I was hoping he would break 30 but he fell just short at the end. Actually I was rooting both for and against him as I almost didn't want to see him beat the 27-0 season of my favourite all time player. Odd how we get attached to a string of numbers
![]() Of course this is using Modern era players. I am sure like myself everyone has had 30+ winners when playing other era's. |

You're not gonna believe this man, he finished the season 20 - 2 with a 2.84 Era, 222 K's, 6 CG's, and 4 Sho's.
Not the 2nd half I had envisioned, but it wasn't because he didn't pitch good. He went 7 straight starts with no decision. It just happened that when he pitched, the team we faced had their ace on the hill and the games all went extra innings. It was always like 0-0 or 1-1 when he left the game. He went 8+ innings in all starts except one, which he went 6 2/3's. He then won 2, lost 1, won another, then got 4 more no decisions to end the season. I can't really say I'm disappointed though. In the LCS he was 2 - 0 with 2 CG's and 2 Sho's and a 0.00 Era. In the World Series he was 2 - 0 with 1 CG, 1 Sho, and a 0.68 Era. Of course he pitched the clicnching game as we won it in 6. Still, woulda been neat to see him have a killer second half like the first. |

Well if you really want to get a 30 game or 40 game winner you could always edit the player. Its a cheap way to do it, but then you can kinda see the maximum that the game will allow.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not into editing a player just to see him achive a goal. In fact I'm not into editing them at all, would much rather find a diamond in the rough like Frank and see him accomplish something great on his own skills. Somehow it just wouldn't seem like much of an accomplishment if I did something to make him better....

I have had a number of 30 game winners although most were in a 3 man rotation during the HOB and HOB2's 1901-1904 seasons.
As for 4 man rotations Gary Caudill went 31-8 for the 1931 Cincinnati Reds in my solo fictional league, the Alternate Major Leagues. Caudill also had a 29-5 season in his career. The greatest pitcher in AM league history, Walter Gowen, had a 30-4 season for the 1908 Indians. Gowen won 11 straight pitcher of the year awards (the trophy that now bears his name). His career record was 289-85. In historical play I had the legendary Cliff Markle win 32 for the 1927 Yankees in the original HOB and in the HOB2 a total of 8 players have had 30 win seasons, although all but 2 did it with a 3 man rotation between 1901-1904. Eddie Plank led the way going 34-16 for the 1904 Cardinals. Plank started 50 games that season and completed 49 of them. Lew Richie of the 1907 Phillies and Jesse Haines from the 1927 Cubs were the 2 HOB2 pitchers to win 30 in a 4 man rotation.

Once in a 5 man rotation in the early 1900's, Ezra Kyles went 28-1 in my fictional league...he was either at 24-0 or 26-0 when his streak was finally snapped...it was an unbelievable run and I seem to remember his ERA being below 2 as well.
That was definitely the most dominating season in my league, ever. I'll check tomorrow and see if there ever has been an actual 30 game winner in my league. |

I've had a couple of 26 game winners playing modern style baseball with 5 man rotations, but that's the closest I've come.

In the Centenial League(the replay of history I'm currently doing) Walter Johnson has been on quite a little run. I confess to editing his ratings to correspond with his best real life year, it's still pretty amazing though especially considering he plays on a team that has been pretty bad for the last few seasons:
W L ERA 1910 35 4 2.10 1911 36 6 1.62 1912 35 6 1.44 1913 34 6 1.19 1914 30 11 1.61 1915 27 5 1.94 (through Aug. 13) Has anyone ever had any 40 (or 50?) game winners in early leagues? |

Just to bump this up, I just had a pitcher score 30 wins with modern settings. And this definitely isn't a pitchers league, since my team also scored 1400 runs...:P
Edward Souza, 30-3, 254 IP, 1.98 ERA, 187 Ks, 40 BBs, .189/.230/.251 against, ratings 10, 9, 8, 9, 8, 9, 8. Talents, Brilliant in everything except doubles, which is good...129 wins at 28 years old... |
