There is an issue where the game cannot be backed up after the first season ends and the next season

Starting with the 2025 season, game backups will not be available. There was the same problem in the last ootp24. I believe this is a very serious problem and we must find it and fix it.

I've never used the in-game backup feature of OOTP other than the weekly autosave\backup that keeps your .dat files in a separate folder.

What I've always done is make a zip file of my entire .lg folder that updates only files that have changed when I run the zip job. Sure one should expect the included backup to do it's job, but if I were having trouble using that I would certainly be doing my own as a way to protect my save.


If this were a widespread issue I think we would have seen it mentioned many times in the support forums. If it were happening to me I'd file a ticket and include as much info as possible on version, computer specs, etc. I'd think that more affective than a very general "I'm having an issue, please fix it" post left here. Hope you find an answer.

Works past 2027 just fine for me. Never heard of anyone else having this issue.
Can you post a screenshot of what happens when you select “backup”?
What type of league is it? How long has the league run? And any issues trying to backup prior to 2027?

I wonder if he's playing a certain mode like challenge or that drive for the pennant.
