Question about Hall of Fame ballots
In the screen shot that shows the hof settings what does raising or lowing the maximum votes per ballot actually do. Does it allow for players to make the hof quicker? Also in the other screen shot on the left hand side I see a column that says votes/ballots. That number seems to change from year to year. What exactly is that supposed to be representing?

Maximum votes per ballot is how many players you (and the AI) can vote for each year. Raising it will lead to more inductions as the borderline guys start getting votes on ballots they wouldn't get otherwise.
The Votes/Ballot in the second image is how many players were voted for per ballot on average, as not every ballot cast will have 10 players, some voters may have only thought 8 were worthy. Last edited by snepp; 06-08-2024 at 02:28 PM. |

1.) They made it trough 10 ballot years 2.) They got 55% of the vote at least once during their 10 years 3.) Finish in the Top 10 on their final ballot |

I just allow players one shot at the HOF (1 year of eligibility) and lower the necessary amount for induction to 50%. Keeps the lists nice and short and about the same number of guys get in.
Also it becomes easy to delineate an "inner circle" based on the % of votes they receive. For example, 90% on the ballot could be the inner circle criteria. |

I put waaaay too much thought into this game. Guys that get 50% the first year typically climb to 75% at some point. Guys below 50% will drop off. It's not exact, of course, but pretty close. Last edited by uruguru; 06-09-2024 at 08:19 PM. |

I don't know about the AI (although your experience is encouraging), but that "one and done" approach would radically affect the approach taken by the human voters. I too like the idea.

While I upped the amount of votes on ballot to 20 I also raised stay on ballot to 20% and raised min for induction to 90%. Also except for current and historical MLB after a certain year I also have no max amount of years
