Save packs or open them right away?

So I noticed some streamers don't open all their packs as soon as they get them and that confused me. Maybe they just like to pace themselves and if so then good on them (like not eating that whole pint of coffee Haagen-dazs ice cream in one sitting), but I've also seen some people here say they like to wait until new cards are released so they have more chances at them. Despite increasing your chances at new cards which may be more valuable, I keep thinking that people who are doing that aren't taking into consideration the time value of the packs. That is, if you open them now, you get to do something with those cards now, either play them, sell them, or lock them to complete missions. And all of those things can get you more PP or more cards which can get you more and more.

What do you do? And is saving your packs really somehow more valuable? FWIW, I am saving them right now just to try it, but I'm not sure it's the smart play.

For the most part, I open them as I get them (or as I can get to them). One can justify the idea of waiting till something great is released, but the reality is - the odds are so against you anyway, you might as well open them early and get a valuable card as soon as possible.

More than once, I have pulled a Diamond card I could put in the lineup immediately rather than wait till the end of the week (ie: end of the current season).

I would agree it's more fun to open 20 packs at a time, but the odds are the same if you open one at a time as well.

I open them immediately. I have a good chance of getting to diamond league next week and if I do I want to stay there for good. Having 150 unopened packs makes that less likely and also mean I’ll have no cards to sell and less pp to buy a player if. I need to do so to meet my goal. Having a lot of unopened packs will improve your odds a very tiny amount of obtaining a premium card when they are introduced each week but the negative far outweighs any positives in my book.

Since the league doesn't matter, I generally hold them until a set is released I'm interested in.

Save them

For those of us who haven't the time to spam tournaments and listen to boring streams, incrementally improving your team is a path to mediocrity. So I save them up until I have a lot to open and there are juicy new missions. Likely my first "grand opening" will be when the B-A-L mission chain is fully revealed.

Sorry, but I can't make sense of this.

I am an old guy that was raised during the times when one brick at a time, one day at a time, and one more piece of the puzzle all were steady roads to success. The steady tortoise wins the race, etc.

For the poll I usually open them once a day. I used to do it once a week on Sunday night until I realized I may have had that Ty Cobb card all week if I had opened it Monday.

I open them as I get them, because if I can improve my lineup today, I will.

Although, I've never really been the most patient anyways...

I open them when I have a little time.

I'm in no hurry to reach certain levels with my teams quickly, I enjoy opening the packs

Yes, one brick at a time leads to success, but I think you'll agree that a poorly laid foundation will not lead to success.

The first 6 months of the game should be about building your economy and not trying to compete in league play. Sell what others are buying, and buy what others are selling (cheaply) for re-sale when those cards are in demand. Then round about October, November, or December you can go shopping and build a really good team than competes successfully in Diamond Leagues.

Okay, I get it now. Dish is currently streaming the coming Future Legends and I'm looking forward to getting some of them. There wasn't much I wanted that I didn't already have so I figured I'd wait and I'm glad I did now.

Although I could have just as easily opened them right away and worked the market later to acquire those cards, it is kind of nice to open packs when you know there's a chance you could get something completely new.

EDIT: Well, that idea bombed. I opened 24 packs and got nothing better than 2 golds I didn't want. Oh well. I'm now thinking that maybe with opening 1 pack at a time you don't feel those bad luck runs nearly as bad as you do when you open a bunch in a row.
