Exclamation Reminder To All Members

Just wanted to remind everyone who is in Our League to double check and make sure that when you go to Main---Perfect Team Settings--League Placement Settings.....that you have it set at Use Friends List

If you don't have this selected, you will more than likely not be included and matched up in the same leagues as other Our League members.

Thanks

Anyone know where the I235 teams are headed?
Stanley could you update the friends list and order according to level? And, we need to make sure to add the new teams that are joining and their S4 levels.

I don't know that I would bank on the promotion/relegation currently on the game screens, unless it seems to be in standings order, with the playoff teams at the top. Both Terra Incognita and Port Ruppert were much closer to relegation than promotion. In fact, the Mundys finished 27 games behind the team that should be going up. I posted this and was told it is a display bug that should work itself out.

I did hear about that display bug on the promotion/relegation screen.

The screen in B213 seems to be correct - the teams are correctly listed by win percentage, with the top 10 being promoted and the bottom two being relegated.

Daytona Beach Pickleballers made it to a play-in wildcard game and lost.

Gotham Knights did not make the playoffs.

Mudville had a lousy year finishing last in their division and will be staying in I235 for the 2022 season.

Final Our League I 235 Standings

First, many thanks to Bottom Of The Sixth for sending me the stats, even while his team was short changed on the schedule. His Mudville Muffins are listed on a separate line because they were not eligible for the title, due to that schedule. The Daytona Beach Pickleballers won in a waltz, dominating the Gotham Knights, 13-6, in head-to-head play. They both bested the Arkham Horrors, 5-2, on the season. Arkham was the model of negative consistency, also falling to the Muffins, 2-1, in Mudville's only league play.

Annandale swooned out of the playoffs, as Leesburg won G5 of the division playoff by beating Claude Passeau (18-2 in the regular season!) in a 5-2 contest. As they say..... there's always next year!

thought you might have had that series with Passeau going in game 5.... pretty epic season for him.... been watching him in the AH to pick him up for my staff sooner or later.... perhaps next year

Terra Incognita: A Look Back; A Peek Ahead

The Rustlers, who play their home games at the Moonlight Roundup Corral, and finished last in Our League S261, were a team built on power and pitching. They got the first part right, with Frank Howard, 36, Matt Williams, 32, George Foster, 31, and Willie Mays, 30, leading a line-up that had 9 players reach double figures in homers. The second part was a major disappointment, with Bob Purkey, 14-12, 4.63, and Jeff Lahti, 7-5, 2.74, 27 saves, and the dimly lit bright spots.

Mark Loretta, .308 was the leading hitter, while Howard and Mays each drove in 107 teammates.

Joaquin Andujar, 11-14, 4.90 was the only other starter to approach mediocrity, while Ron Guidry, 8-15, 5.75, and Frank Lary, 7-18, 5.04 were the season's biggest busts.

The bullpen ERA of 3.16 was the third best in the Rustlers' PT conference, so 2022 may see manager Gil Gamesh wield a quicker hook, with minor leaguers Dave Smith and Tim Burke vying for the extra spot if Gamesh decides on a 7-man bullpen.

Mid-season free agent signing Jose Rijo, 6-9, 4.86 showed enough promise to remain in the rotation. Bert Blyleven, picked up near season's, was roughed up badly in his two starts, but is expected to get a very long look, due to budgetary shortfalls. The team uniforms (road is the darker grey) and logo are below.

Port Ruppert: What Happened; What's Next

PT tracks 13 offensive categories per team and Port Ruppert offended the sensibilities of their fans on an even dozen counts, finishing 12th or worse, except in strikeouts, where they were 6th. The Mundys, who call Glorious Mundy Stadium home, didn't pitch so well either. Dean Chance was the bellwether at 14-14, 3.98. John Odom was a solid 5th starter at 12-11, 4.45, but Ron Darling was counted on for a better effort than his numbers reveal, 8-18, 4.40. Port Ruppert invested most of their available capital on free agent hurlers Warren Spahn and Ismael Valdes while playing the season, with Spahn an unqualified success in 13 starts, at 5-2, 3,28. Valdes' 16 trips to the hill yielded a shockingly poor 2-9, 6.90 result. Given his price tag and potential, he is certain to get another try at solving the Our League puzzle. In the bullpen, the Arthur Rhodes as closer experiment, 2-9, 4.71, 28 saves, is over. Moe Drabowsky, he of the 43 saves in 2020 will be back (I don't know why I waited, I remember his '66 World Series performance against the Dodgers).

After the close of the campaign, the Mundys spent what little profit they had made to sign slugger Willie Horton, whom manager Luke "the Loner" Gofannon immediately declared his new clean-up hitter. Terry Moore led the team in batting at .297, while Leon Wagner set the pace in homers, 24, and RBI, 78.

The home grey (a Great American Novel reference) is on the left of the team logo.

Asylum: Where They've Been; Where They're Headed

The Keepers settled a little too comfortably into basement residency (I'm sensing a theme with my teams) in Our League B213. The team seemed to lack the edge one might expect of a squad from Asylum that plays its games at Sanitarium Hills Stadium. On paper, the numbers seem, if not formidable, at least respectable. Barry Larkin led the team in hitting at .295, adding 12 homers and 42 stolen bases. Willie Mays was solid, .280, 19, 72, as were Garret Anderson, .283, 18, 68, Orlando Cepeda, 24 HR, 74 RBI, and Joe DiMaggio, 25 HR, 94 RBI.

The starters, Bill Monbouquette, 11-13, 4.55, Lefty Grove, 13-13, 4.06, David Cone, 12-11, 4.64, and Ken Hill, 9-14, 4.27, tended more toward stolid.

The bullpen, with 15 losses and 10 blown saves was stodgy. In a effort to shake things up, manager Kid Heckett convinced the front office to part with much of its meager budget to sign Livan Hernandez, John Hiller, and Tony Lazzeri. Hernandez faltered in 7 starts while Lazzeri sparkled, hitting .326 with 2 HR, 9 RBI in 26 games. Hiller will get a chance as closer after posting a 1.27 ERA during his brief time with the team. It is hoped that he will provide a spark to lift the team from the easy-going lethargy they slipped into this year.

I'll start with the press releases next season when the Salem Witches are actually playing in our league. The Arkham Horrors...well...it only makes me sad to talk about them.
