Darryl was wore out by the end of the season. He could only manage 3 homers in Sept./Oct. His final total on the year was 38. His average in the last month wasn't any better at .212. He finished 4th in the AL in homers.
The Blue Jays even with 94 wins were still 16 games behind the Yankees who finished with 110 wins. "See that Ghost? 38 homers. Led the team." "See that Darryl? 158 K's, lead the team. See that Darryl? You have been caught stealing 10 times, leads the team. Yep, you are the best, Darryl" Darryl's final "line" Games 155 AB 558 H 142 2B 21 3B 10 HR 38 RBI 114 R 111 BB 82 K 158 AVG .254 OBP .353 SLG .532 OPS .886 League Notes: Rickey steals 119 Rickey Henderson finished 11 off of the single-season stolen base record, of 130 which he set himself. Rickey stealing his 75th basesThis kid is good! Kansas City Royal rookie Ken Howell, just might be on a fast track to the Hall of Fame. After going 21-5 the 23 year old rookie with the 2.46 ERA might already be one of the top 3 pitchers in the majors. Postseason and awards next:

Toronto continues to waste money
The Blue Jays continued to give out contract that don't make sense. By resigning 36-year old reliever Randy Moffit to a 5 year contract, they put themselves in finacial trouble in the near future. Yes Moffitt did save 20 games last year, but with an ERA of well over 4.00. They also resigned 3rd baseman Rance Mullikins to a 9.8 million a year over 4 years. It wouldn't be so bad if Mullikins didn't hit .258 11HR 65 RBI's. If they keep spending all this money they won't be able to resign young star Darryl Strawberry. Moffitt looks to take back his spot as closer Mullikins just became VERY richPadres draft a dual threat When the Padres took Jose Canseco with the 2nd pick in the Draft this year, they just might have gotten the next superstar. With unbelievable power and blazing speed, Canseco has the talent for a 40-40 season. Canseco looks to be the next Willie MaysPadres lock up the best San Diego splurged on the best power hitter on the market, and they got him. Dale Murphy signed to a 8-year contract to 13 million a year. " I didn't even know contracts got that long." Murphy said after he dotted his I's and crossed his T's. Murphy hit .291 51HR 112RBI's Muphy becomes the posterboy for the PadresTexas gets the top basestealer Rickey Henderson who stole 119 bases last season joins the Rangers as a Free Agent, after he signed a 3-year contract worth more than 9 million a year. "Rickey know what's best for Rickey" Henderson said when he turned down a higher offer from the Yankees. Rickey is shuffled around in the West by signing with the Rangers

Darryl looked like a rookie in the first month of the season. Only managing a .202 average and 3 homers. The Blue Jays are being led by Rance Mullikins and Lloyd Moseby to be tied for 1st with a 16-10 record.
Real nice month Darryl. Just above the Mendoza line. .202, really good. "I'll get it together don't worry ghost." "Oh, I'm not worried Darryl, I have nothing to lose." Darryl's "line" Games 25 AB 99 H 20 2B 4 3B 1 HR 3 RBI 15 R 21 BB 16 K 28 AVG .202 OBP .316 SLG .354 OPS .670 SB 5 CS 1 League Notes: Dickie Thon a hitting machine? Dickie Thon who signed a 3-year contract worth 12 million a year with the Royals in the offseason, is off to a great start. His career high of homers was set last year when he connected for 15 homers. He already has 9 this month. Thon, pictured here last year with the Astros, is off to a great startFor some reason I have a lot of over-inflated contracts

Darryl showed more of his power that he had from last year. But his average was still below .220 on the month. He finished with a .213 6HR 18RBI's.
"Oh good Darryl! You raised your average a little this month. Your doing so good." "Man, you need to shut up!" and Darryl tried to swing the bat at the ghost. The bat passed through the ghost and hit a wall. Darryl's "line" Games 52 AB 193 H 40 2B 7 3B 2 HR 9 RBI 33 R 38 BB 32 K 52 AVG .207 OBP .323 SLG .404 OPS .727 League Notes: Who'd you rather have? There are 2 young premier pitchers in baseball right now. Dwight "Doc" Gooden and Roger "The Rocket" Clemens. Gooden who came off of an excellent rookie season of 15-11 with a 3.27 E.R.A. is the better strikeout artist. Clemens who was the rookie of the year in the National League, is the control artist of the two. He is already leading the Majors in wins with 9. Clemens giving a curtian call for no reason at all. Gooden working on another strikeout.

Thanks Tim_uwrf...
Darryl's average is raising slowly but surely. By slowly I mean it has raised from .207 to .215. But by surely, I meant it is raising. At least Darryl has cracked the top 3 in homers on his own team. "Darryl... are you becoming a flop before you can even get started? Because if you are just tell me." "I'm doing better each month, just let leave me alone!" "Oh yeah by September you average might break .230" Darryl's "line" Games 77 AB 289 H 62 2B 11 3B 3 HR 14 RBI 42 R 58 BB 42 K 79 AVG .215 OBP .318 SLG .419 OPS .736 SB 15 CS 8 My thoughts: Darryl strikes out a lot! But he does walk more than I thought he would, so that takes away some of the sting. 15 stolen bases look good too. League Notes: You can't pronouce his name but he sure can save: Tom Niedenfuer is perhaps the best closer in baseball this year. After spending 4 previous seasons in the bullpen of the Dodgers, Nieddendfle finnaly got a chance to save games. Nedflanders has 18 saves which puts him 3rd in the National League, it isn't his saves that stand out its Nerfootball's ERA of 1.65 which is the 3rd best of all pitchers that qualify in baseball. Tom Niedenfuer in his homeade Orioles jersey, instead of his Dodgers jersey

Excellent! I am LMAO! Keep up the good work. I did a similar league following the progression of the Detroit Tigers from '84 on to see just how bad the AI could make them after their glory days.

Darryl hit .284 this month which was by far his best month of the season. It raised his overall batting average to .229.
"I'm moving on up Ghost, I'm out of my slump. I'll break .250 by the end of the season." OOOOOHHH... you sure have some lofty goals set for yourself, that's what it's all about Darryl. Setting goals and achieving them. Way to go." Darryl's "line" Games 99 AB 363 H 83 2B 13 3B 5 HR 20 RBI 59 R 69 BB 53 K 99 AVG .229 OBP .329 SLG .466 OPS .795 SB 21 CS 15 My thoughts: Darryl lost his blue stars over the offseason, and was a 3 star player last month. But know he is a 2 1/2 star player. I don't know where he took a hit in his rating but I'll try to find out League Notes: Won't Montreal give Fergie a chance? Ferguson Jenkins is 3 wins short of 300 this season, but instead of giving Jenkins a chance to become a bonafide Hall of Famer, he is rotting in AAA. Jenkins has yet to make a start this season. He made 10 relief appearences this season. The 42 year old Jenkins threw a no-hitter last season. Jenkins throwing the last pitch of the no-hitter last season

Darryl had possibly his best month as a pro hitting .347 9HR 29RBI's. Darryl's stars went back up from 21/2 to 3. Darryl needs 1 more homer and 9 stolen bases to reach 30-30.
Darryl put his legs on the coffee table in his living room, sighed and told the ghost, ".347 this month ghost, told you I'd break .250" "Oh Darryl, you don't get it do you? You have to put more than 1 or 2 months together to have a good season. You have to be consistent to be a star, and you need to watch out or you'll be a falling one" Darryl's "line" Games 126 AB 461 H 117 2B 24 3B 11 HR 29 RBI 88 R 89 BB 61 K 124 AVG .254 OBP .342 SLG .542 OPS .884 League Notes: Schmidt's Heir? Nick Esasky, Cincinatti Reds 3rd basemen may be next in line of power hitting 3rd basemen. He already has 40 homeruns this year and he's only 25. Esasky has a legitmate chance at 500 homers with 86 career homeruns at his young age. Esasky letting one fly

Darryl took a nose dive his last month, .206 6HR 20RBI's which was similar to his horrid April and May. His stellar July and awesome August kept his average's head above water.
"Oh boy Darryl, just when I thought you were doing good too. You go off and hit .206. .206!" "Shut up! Why are you even here?" "DUH!!! I brought you back in time stupid." Darryl's final "line" Games 155 AB 563 H 138 2B 28 3B 12 HR 35 RBI 108 R 111 BB 78 K 151 AVG .245 OBP 340 SLG .524 OPS .864 League Notes: Ripken perhaps could be the all-time best SS? Cal Ripken Jr. the 25-year old Shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles, had perhaps a breakout season. .338 37HR 133RBI. This is his third straight 100+ RBI season. Ripken is well on his way to a .300 500HR 3000H career. Ripken is also an excellent defensive shortstopEDIT-Reading over my post, apparently my ghost is a dead valley girl...

PLAYOFF RESULTS!!
The amazing Baltimore offense captured a world series for the Orioles. Anchored by the "fearsome foursome" of Cal Ripken Jr.(.337 38HR), Dwight Evans(.256 42HR), Eddie Murray(.347 37HR), and Jim Rice(.313 32HR). Playoff Results ALCS Baltimore Orioles(89-73) Defeats Texas Rangers(95-67) 4-1 NLCS Los Angeles Dodgers(92-70) defeats New York Mets(90-72) 4-1 World Series Baltimore Orioles(89-73) defeats Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 Postseason MVP: Jim Rice (.498 7HR 20RBI) My Thoughts: The Mets are just 2 years removed from a 54-108 season. Apparently signing Free Agents works... AL MVP Cal Ripken JR. Baltimore Orioles .338 37HR 133RBI NL MVP Dale Murphy San Diego Padres .310 55HR 133RBI AL CY YOUNG Ken Howell Kansas City Royals 17-8 2.81ERA NL CY YOUNG Mike Krukow St. Louis Cardinals 21-11 3.78ERA AL ROY Eric Davis Seattle Mariners .319 25HR 86RBI NL ROY Roger McDowell Pittsburgh Pirates* 14-9 3.90ERA AL Fireman Of the Year+ Ron Davis Oakland Athletics 45 SV 9BSV 4.82 NL Fireman Of the Year Tom Niedenfuer Los Angeles Dodgers 34SV 5BSV 2.33 *McDowell pitched most of the season with the Astros... he was traded on July 30th. + There wasn't a dominant closer in the AL, at all... so I picked the one with the most saves. Free Agents and draft next:
