And the staring contest between Eck and Steve continues...
I understand your frustration Eck. Scoring bugs like this are particularly annoying for us statheads and perfectionists and it doesn't seem like the "bug" should be that hard to correct. And some of the scoring bugs have been around for some time. Just out of curiosity, have you ever encountered an instance of the throwing error situation different from the "no at-bat" result? Or is it always the same? If so, maybe a simple "It happened again - #15" post will save you the trouble of typing out the names and details of the scenario, since we already know what happened. Anyway, although I doubt your relentless posting of throwing error instances will actually accomplish anything, I admire your passion and dedication to the cause. Good luck! |

Perhaps Markus could chime in and tell us that this will be one of the fixes in our upcoming late Christmas present?

Nice to see others chiming in, as I think it's the only way this will get corrected. To answer the question, no, I haven't seen any other variation. It's always the same thing: batter grounds a routine-seeming grounder to either the second baseman, shortstop, third baseman or pitcher, fielder makes throwing error, batter winds up on second. No at-bat, no hit, no out credited to batter. It happens to me on about half of the throwing errors by those players.
I'm typing details as more of a way to avoid boredom in doing it. And now..... Annoying Instance #13 July 3, 1875. Philadelphia Athletics at Philadelphia Whites. Top of the second. Everett Mills hits a grounder to Davy Force - Force commits throwing error, no at-bat, hit or out credited to Mills.

And another:
June 9, 1961 Oakland Warriors at Louisville Redbirds Top of 9th, 1 out, Pascual Arevalo hits a groundball to 3rd baseman William Deschamps, who throws the ball away. No at-bat given, or hit, Arevalo ends up on second base. |

So I guess that makes this.... Annoying Instance #16
July 6, 1875. All-Star Game. Everett Mills of the Philadelphia Athletics grounds it to Harry Schafer of Boston, the third baseman. Error on Schafer, Mills ends up on second, and no at-bat, hit or error charged to Mills.

When I get back to playing OOTP again tonight, I'll probably get an instance more or two.

I saw another one this morning by my shortstop Allan Franklin. Batter ends up on 2nd base, no hit or at-bat credited to the hitter.
