Am I missing anything by upgrading leagues?

So you know how alot of fixes and features say "Must start new league"? What happens to saves that I have upgraded from one version to the next? Am I getting those? Or am I actually missing out on AI changes?

And of course, the follow up question to that would be what the workaround is if I want to keep the world history? Does creating a quickstart and starting a "new" league with each version accomplish the same under the hood changes as starting a completely new league??

There are very few features/fixes on which they place those type of caveats.

Most of those are things that affect your initial setup and/or generation. For example, if they fix something with draft classes, that is not going to get applied to your draft classes that have already been generated.

So, this becomes a very difficult question to answer broadly...but for the most part thinking about the specific feature/fix logically it should be obvious as to how it will affect your specific save.

Any/all of those changes apply to leagues starting with this season’s rosters. When actual player ratings are updated, you can’t expect those to be applied to existing saves because basically the day you sim it becomes a fictionalized league. That said, I’ve never seen actual feature adds require a restart and I’m almost always pulling a save from the previous version.

Correct. And any tweaks to player ratings also would not be applied to games that have already been started. But AI things like trade logic, lineup/rotation construction, etc. would apply to any game that's already started.

I'll have to go back through the Release Notes and look for things that always made me wonder but on the topic of draft classes, this is somewhat of a problem because the game generates 4 years worth of classes right? So if draft class composition is adjusted with a patch or say in OOTP24, I would be 4 years away from seeing those changes?

It creates 4 draft classes initially, but I don't think they are all completely filled out (i.e. some of the lower classes get added to each year until they are draft eligible).

However, that is correct, the existing players would not be affected by changes to draft class generation because they have already been generated.
