What am I doing wrong? I cannot get the diffuse map or normal map to load with my jerseys.
Here's how I have the files named and all files reside in the jerseys folder. jerseys_cleveland_guardians_alt3.png jerseys_cleveland_guardians_alt3_d.png jerseys_cleveland_guardians_alt3_n.png |

You only need two files, the diffuse ( one with colors) and the normal maps (the purplish one) you don't need the height map the grey scaled one... jerseys_cleveland_guardians_alt3 jerseys_cleveland_guardians_alt3_n |

Thanks guys. I guess it is just hard for me to see the bump making a difference.
I even used the diffuse map as a layer (set to multiply) when I made the jersey. I tried it in game and it looked pretty good. I might continue to do that. Last edited by MikeS369; 04-26-2022 at 03:03 PM. |

To be clearer, the diffuse map needs to end in _d for the game to automatically try loading the normal map. If you use the file without the _d it will work like OOTP22 and earlier.

IDK if thats entirely true. I think they changed it so you only need the ".png" and the "_n.png" files. With the _n file and it works like OOTP, with it and you get the improved height and shading features. "_d" is not needed anymore.

Is it possible to create stirrup socks with the pants template?

Possible? Yes. But it looks like absolute garbage.

Any file without a _d will just be treated like a regular file like 22 and earlier.

"Bump maps" aren't used in-game. The game uses "diffused maps" (_d) and "normal maps" (_n). "Bump maps" are used to create "normal maps" with programs like Materialize.

Just to update, they dropped the _d from the file names. You still need to use the _n for normal maps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you gotten custom pants normal maps to work?

The game has one default normal map that all the pants use and I don't think there's any way of overriding it at the moment. Last edited by eriqjaffe; 04-27-2022 at 10:45 AM. |

I decided to use the pants with belt template and my Gimp art application to take a stab as some short pants for the ladies of the 1943 AAGPBL who actually wore skirts. I am not a graphic artist but I wanted to aim for pants proper just to below knee length, then a bit of skin colored calf, then followed by colored stockings.
A link to the South Bend Blue Sox home pants that I had created (actually posted by me as biggalloot on Steam) is at: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...?id=2800398708 I imported from OOTP22 my creation of the 1943 AAGPBL season into OOTP23 and decided to play a game with the home South Bend Blue Sox hosting the Racine Belles to see what the short pants of South Bend and Racine looked like during a game. I placed it on Youtube for all to see and that link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAE5...el=kcstengelsr I am new to pants creation. It kind of works as knee length pants like I wanted but it is kind of blocky/chunky. Maybe the player models require blocky/chunky pants or maybe some better with graphics have some idea like perhaps transparencies to slim down the lower pants? Notice at the end of the game that I checked my uniform settings for South Bend and Racine. I did correctly assign the brown to Racine but I had improperly assigned the red of Rockford as pants to South Bend instead of their blue. Also, notice that I had properly assigned the caps to both teams but for some unknown reason the home and visitors switch hats when fielding--South Bend fielders wear the brown of Racine and Racine fielders wear the blue of South Bend. Maybe something was lost in translation from my OOTP22 import, but does anybody know why my AAGPBL teams (also in other tests) change home and visitor caps when fielding even after being properly assigned? At least the jerseys of TxRanger were properly assigned and worked correctly. More about my pants experiment and the results can be read under Details in the YouTube video. Jorin and silvam14, the pants experiment is a good idea and I want to thank you. I am not the graphic design guy some of you are, but I tried for the ladies of the AAGPBL. I can see it possible if I fiddled with Gimp to make sections of the white sanitary socks w/ stirrups showing in the lower section of the belt pants template near where the shoe would join which might improve the view. Good luck to all pants designers! Last edited by kcstengelsr; 04-27-2022 at 12:04 PM. |

This is a limitation of the 3d model the game uses, the only pants style that looks even close to accurate are modern pants worn all the way down to the shoes. Anything else makes the players look like they all have elephantiasis.

Re: eriqiaffe's statement:
"This is a limitation of the 3d model the game uses, the only pants style that looks even close to accurate are modern pants worn all the way down to the shoes. Anything else makes the players look like they all have elephantiasis." With my previous model the ladies did appear to be wearing shorts and so my length of the pants proper to just below the knee might work for the shorts of the Chicago White Sox circa late 1970s, but the pants proper would have to be a bit longer for example 1950s uniforms. The ladies did have thick calves like they overdid it at the gym regarding the skin tone section of my model, but it looked like the worst of the bulky/clumsy was with the lower part of the leg. That got me thinking. What if I made the lower stocking with stirrups on the sides and with white sanitary socks showing in the lower fronts and backs? The theory would be that the white sanitary socks might blend in a bit with the white shoes and perhaps a bit of bulkiness could be excused that the players had baggy, saggy white sanitary socks. One really needs to try manual games to see how the pants models play out. Here is a link to what I came up with for stirrup/white sanitary socks with the rest of my home pants model for the Kenosha Comets: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...?id=2800474608 I didn't know how this would work unless I used this (and pants made for Rockford) while playing a manual game. I posted this new result of women's pants with stirrups and sanitary socks and posted it on Youtube. See for yourself. I think the stirrups and sanitary socks help to some degree in lessening the overall bulky and clunky look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6m2...el=kcstengelsr Pay particular attention for the lower part of the legs of the batters with my initial home plate umpire cam. If I wanted to improve the stirrups and sanitary socks a bit more I think that more Kenosha sanitary sock should show especially at the back of the leg (the front part of the leg is not in need of too much attention) and the Kenosha outside stirrup widths are too wide (the inside stirrup is maybe just a tiny bit too thin). I think that my Rockford stirrups are too wide both inside and outside while needing to show more sanitary sock at the back of the leg (the Kenosha and the Rockford stirrups are a bit different as I kind of free-handed them in a short period of time). I do think that stirrups and white sanitary socks are the way to go for older style uniforms. One will probably require trial and error to get the widths of the stirrups and the area of the white sanitary socks to one's satisfaction. I do think that if the stirrups and white sanitary sock area is determined to satisfaction that one could then go kind of wild with lower stocking colors by even adding things like stripes. Funny thing about my video: I purposely set up before the game Kenosha to wear Rockford caps and Rockford to wear Kenosha caps in order to get around my home and visitors switching caps after my import of AAGPBL from OOTP22. It worked and so Kenosha wore their proper green caps which were assigned to Rockford and Rockford wore their proper red caps which were assigned to Kenosha. At least it worked until the very end of the game when Kenosha with green caps changed to red caps for the victory celebration. Ha. Added after reflection: I am still tinkering with some usable template for stirrups/socks. For one thing the bottom part of the stirrups should be white to blend with the shoes as the model's long pants go below the shoes. Having the bottom part white should simulate shoe and not the stirrups going below the top of the shoe. Also, I am tinkering with correct size and placement of the stirrups, so neither of the two examples I used above are where my template idea is right now. __________________ Last edited by kcstengelsr; 04-28-2022 at 11:51 AM. |
