Rockies go with 4 man rotation
Rockies Demote Guthrie, Shift To 4-Man Rotation - Baseball Nation
This will be interesting to watch and see how it plays out. I guess the bullpen can't be any more tired than it already is. Maybe going with a 13 man staff will make more sense.

Once guys get used to it, I don't see why they can't go back to 100-pitch or higher limits.

Possibly, but 1) Will the experiment last that long? and 2) Will the management see it that way?

Probably not to #1 but how else is the 4 man rotation going to get into baseball again except by individual teams experimenting with it?

With all due respect to SI, this isn't a route that a successful team is going to try to take. It sounds like, at least in the beginning, part of what the 4 man rotation is going to attempt to do is account for the hike in ERA for the 2nd and 3rd times through the lineup by eliminating the 3rd trip through the lineup entirely. Granted, that's the part of it that the purist in me doesn't really like but it's not like the Rox are trying to emulate the 1968 Tigers or anything here.
