Mariners voice Niehaus passes | Mariners.com: News

Dead from a heart attack at age 75. I'm not a Mariners fan but when I came across him calling a game I'd stop and listen. The great baseball announcers just keep leaving us.

Wow, RIP. I've listened to him call many A's/M's games. Won't be the same without him saying "Ichiro!!"

I'm not a Mariners fan, but I know what it's like to lose your team's voice. Harry Kalas was mine, and I can feel for what Seattle fans are going through. You guys just lost a great announcer. Niehaus was one of the best.

RIP. I was a Mariner fan back in the early Griffey days and Niehaus was just as, if not more, integral to my enjoyment of Mariner baseball as any player. Not that other Mariner broadcasters were/are bad or anything, but Mariner baseball just never seemed what it should be without Niehaus.

:/

Just heard. Then came here.

First time a celebrity death caused me tears.

I grew up with is voice and baseball being synonymous.

Loved all the times following the M's together, Dave.

In honor, my favorite Niehaus call (featuring Nostradamus Blowers):
