Where in the world to you come up with this? There are over 340 D1 basketball teams and it is sorted down to 65 teams by mid March. How do the 30 games not matter? Each year there are 28 at large teams that make the tourny, these at large teams make the tourny based upon their regular season performance.

I have actually said it a million times. I love the BCS, it gurantees that no team will come out of nowhere. It means the entire season means something not just the last month when a team got hot.

Expand it to like 70 teams.
Have some Games on ESPN because like Jay Blis,Bill R.,Len Elmore help out at CBS at that time.
Clark Kellog is okay to work with Nantz but Vitale would be better.

How do you propose they expand the tourny to "like 70 teams" without making the brackets a complete mess? 6 play in games? Athough I dont really see the point in it, no matter how many teams make the tourny there will ALWAYS be a few teams that feel they deserved to be in but werent. The number could be 8,16, 32, 64, 70, 200 it wouldnt matter.

Are you really answering one of his posts with a serious argument?

The problem is that the Big Sky really stretches the definition of mid-major. They play in Division I-AA in football. Last year PSU got a #16 seed in the big dance and were blown out. I don't expect a much better position this year. Thus they're a sure bet to be gone in the first round. Is it a good thing that they made the tournament?

I don't agree with expanding the tournament, by the way. I believe it should take some degree of effort and success to find oneself in the tournament, and that four weeks, as opposed to three, is too long.

If Portland State can get a 14 or 13 seed(which I think they will) they could very easily surprise. They have a few nice wins under their belt this year, they returned pretty much everyone from last year and have a star on their team. I could see them knocking off a team like LSU or Syracuse.

The system is good enough at doing what it is suppose to do(finding the best teams) it is poor at satisfying what a lot of people want(having the Utah's of the world play Florida and win). I cant say Ive ever really thought the system picked the wrong teams for the championship game so I havent been disappointed like many others. It seems Americans need some sort of playoff system to be happy.

IMO it would be too difficult to narrow a field of over 340 teams down to two. Also, basketball is made for a huge tournament like this. Can you imagine all the great games we would miss if we just put North Carolina and UConn in the championship game right now?

Hey, I still remember when the National Championship in college football was "mythical" and everyone acknowledged it. Fans loved to argue about which poll was correct.

Still, the people who appreciate the BCS and its work are a decided minority, and most fans really do seem to need a playoff system to be sure who the best team is.

Well, evidently Pitt has had a bit of a setback in its bid for a top seed.

Oklahoma lost, and Kansas lost as well, if UCONN goes down, it makes the #1 seeds most likely:

1. North Carolina (doesn't matter what happens in their tournament)
2. Memphis (If they lose, they fall out)
3. Louisville
4. Probably Pitt. Unless UCONN can find a way to put away Syracuse who is hanging around.

The refs are going to have a hard time telling what happened there.
