Questions Regarding Online Leagues

I would like to try playing online but I have a few simple questions that aren't addressed in the league rules, etc.

1. When the Commish sims the prescribed amount of games each week at certain times do I have to be online at that time or can I review the results later at my convience? (I travel and would have difficulty being at my computer consistently during some of the sessions.)

2. What are some of the better leagues and what should I look for? It seems to me some of these leagues could go under quickly if the Commish is not dedicated.

2. Does OOTP sponsor their own leagues or are they all independantly operated?

Thanks

1.) No you do not have to be online. Some leagues do live sims that are optional. Some don't do live sims at all.

2.)The age old question. Joining an established league is most likely the better bet. Check out the league web site and forums. If it has been around for a while you have less of a chance it will go under soon. No guarantees though.

3.)They are all independent.

Good luck and have fun.

Hi Renn,

You will never be required to be online..you can download the files and update your team - the most they ask for is to have your exports done usually about an hour before sim time.

As mentioned earlier.... some don't even have live sims.

If you would like to see a listing of available online leagues (not all but over 20 of them) you can go to www.simleaguecentral.com and check out the listings. The commish's submit their leagues there so there is always a link to follow to their website.

Good Luck
Christina

I agree with scotto, leagues that have been around awhile are good bets. New leagues run by people who have been in online leagues for awhile are fairly good bets too.

Past that, look for what interests you. Fictional or real? Historical or modern day? All ratings visible or only talent? Finances or no finances?

Take a look at the website and especially the rules page. Does it look like it's well thought out or just thrown out there? Do the rules look like something that you'd like to play under? Take a look at the forum. Is there a lot of participation? Are there any negative posts? Do a search for the league and the commish in this forum and in google. Are there any complaints about them? Commish reputation is huge for most people, as it should be.

Here is another thread on the same topic: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...hlight=website
