2025 postseason predicitions

I want to know how everyone thinks things will go this year. I didn't get to post this sooner since I forgot so as of right now what do you think will happen?

It's probably not what you were looking for but Cal Raleigh is the AL MVP. (Sorry, Aaron, not this time.)

Year of the Mariners by chance??? 🧐

Seriously though, I think it'd be cool to see the M's win this year. I really wouldn't mind Detroit either since they were bad for all those years and have been having success in recent times so it'd be neat if they won it all too.

The one I want most is the Phillies, but realistically I think it'll be the Dodgers (please anyone but the Dodgers ugh)

I am chagrined to realize that this divisional round will knock out two of the four teams that I would like to see more of at this point (yellow highlight).

However, I am relieved to see the same will happen to two of the four teams that I am tired of looking at (orange highlight).

But out of respect for you, I could tolerate more of the Phillies. Better them than the other three orange teams.

Well.... its over for the Phillies now. I feel for Kerkering but that was just insane. Pressure of the moment got to him and he made a bad move and he will surely be the most hated guy in Philadelphia tonight. I feel like this team beat themselves honestly.

Aargh. It's up to the Brewers now. (I don't think the Cubs can take the Dodgers; the Brewers must beat the Cubs.)

I actually stayed up for the entire Mariners vs Tigers game and that was absolutely crazy. It just ended a minute ago but from what I saw I don't think this team can beat the Blue Jays. A lot of the outs seemed more lucky than clutch and Toronto could probably have mowed both those teams down easily. It was kind of sloppy baseball.

Jays vs Mariners games will be crazy in Seattle with how all the Vancouver people root for the Blue Jays despite being so far from the city. It's a national pride thing. I don't know if he was making a joke or not but my cousin from Seattle said that they actually had Blue Jays merchandise in the Mariners team store whenever they'd play each other a year or two ago for how many of them there were. I don't follow the Mariners closely enough but the fans were really quiet tonight. Unusually quiet for a game of this sort to see whether or not your team will be advancing in the playoffs but maybe they're always like that I don't know.

I'm calling a competively played World Series between the Dodgers and Blue Jays.

One thing I am not looking forward to is any more of "Screamin' " Adam Amin. Gee, I mentioned Red Bull in the Tigers thread (to keep me awake and alert) but that guy must have had a six-pack of it on hand.

At one point, I think it was after the bottom of the 14th, he's yelling his lungs out even though the inning had just ended quietly. TBS has the NLCS at least, but it's all Fox for the ALCS and the World Series. Oh, goody.

I really don't like the commentators at all. The audio was on because my dad had it on but every year I always just mute it and turn music on because they always choose annoying commentators for the playoffs. It almost feels like they always specifically look for the worst ones, at least in my opinion. I don't know your opinion but it always seemed like baseball fans of all teams collectively disliked Joe Buck when they had him call the world series every year.

Even with some of the former players, I liked them as players but I don't think they're good commentators.

It's funny. Now I know what Yankee haters felt years ago (and some still do). I really don't want to see the Dodgers in the World Series. Or, if they do get there, I want them trounced by Mariners/Jays.

My path must have started diverging sometime last year, because I do not recall following the MLB playoffs and caring as much then as I do now. It's a good thing.

I really thought the Jays would plow through the Mariners but they're not in a good way now, especially with the next games being in Seattle. I would be fine with either team winning since I used to kind of follow the Blue Jays a long time ago like back when they had Halladay, Wells, Lind, Hill, Rios and all those guys when I was like 4 (I did this with a bunch of random teams as a young child for some reason) but I wouldnt mind the Mariners either. The Jays came across as a team that could certainly compete with the Dodgers but who knows based on how this is going.

I don't want the Dodgers in the world series either but it'd seem likely that they will be. They couldn't beat the Brewers during the regular season and now they're up 2-0 and they're gonna be at home next. I don't think the Brewers even got upward of 5 hits all series so far. I feel like if the Mariners made it to the world series the dodgers will make short work of them. I hope not but I just feel like it'll happen.

And also Ohtani has been BAD all playoffs but he got an RBI tonight and it's just a matter of time before he gets consistently hot again. Things are just pointing more toward it being another year of the Dodgers.

This is what I mean about the commentators. It's fun when they can do random stuff and call a game in a non aggravating manner but when they're just annoying and hokey it's just like ugh idk how to explain it. They're still not nearly as bad as Anderson and Francoeur though in my opinion.

Somebody else here said they watch the game with the sound off. I don't go that far, but I do turn it down so that I can just hear the crowd roar. I am usually doing something else on my laptop as I watch. One of the windows that I have open is tuned to ESPN Gameday.

And by golly, that procedure helps with the darned commercials. Over and over again with the same stupidity. Whenever Kevin Hart appears, I quickly avert my eyes.

Here's my bracket from MLB.com. Although I have a couple of incorrect picks, my final 2 are still a possibility. Can't say I like the Brewers chances much, but the Mariners have put themselves in a favorable position.

Of course it's the play-offs, and we all know anything can happen. It takes 4 victories to win a series, not 2.

Well that was an interesting series comeback by Toronto. Dodgers Blue Jays it is!

Two experts on sports that I know (Westheim and my wife) said the same thing: Too bad they could not save those extra runs for later in the Series. I would bet on a runs drought coming up for the Jays.

[I should clean up my language, in view of what is happening elsewhere. I would NOT bet on anything related to sports. Never have, never will.]

That happens a lot where teams play their absolute hardest and completely overkill the opponent then have nothing left to show for later down the line. Never know based on the comeback of last series but it's possible. I'm thinking Toronto could probably pull out at least 1 more win even if they don't win the series. I still have faith in them, but I can also totally predict a scenario where they only win 1 more game due to the Dodgers just giving their main guys a day off if they feel like they have a comfortable enough series lead.

I don't bet on sports either. I don't like how much they encourage it and advertise it on every single game 100 times but that's just my own view and I realize I can't stop people from doing what they want. Much like anything potentially self destructive if one is not responsible with it, whether it be beer, smoking, "dirty websites" and so on. It still feels in bad taste to me though given that we had a bunch of guys get suspended/banned last year for betting (Saalfrank, Mercano and all them). Do I doubt this sort of stuff was probably happening secretly in the time period between Pete Rose and now and no one ever just got caught? Not at all, but it still doesn't feel right to me with how much more excessive the ads are this year than ever.
