League Settings-Stats & AI

I'm trying to recreate a 1980 environment for my league. Under League Totals I've entered the stats from 1980, adjusted to the number of teams in my league.

Under that is Other Statistical Modifiers and Position Modifiers. How do I set these? None of them are set to 1. It also says that 1 may not be the default. I'm confused by this and would appreciate any help.

The easiest way is to use the Select Year drop-down to choose your year and also check the "Use Auto-Calc of modifiers (Recommended)" box.

If that box is check, on Opening Day the game will run some test simulations and auto-adjust everything based on those test results.

I've used Auto-Calc and gotten some weird results. For example, I have a promotion/relegation league with several levels. All of the levels ad the same settings. Somehow, one league ended up with a HR modifier around 5, resulting in HR's exploding. I've also ad other stats seemingly adjust on their own.

Also, I'm trying to understand how and why they arrive at certain modifiers.

When you run Autocalc is important.

If you run it when the opening day rosters aren't set it could be doing its' test sims with much different rosters than ultimately are playing the games.

If you have multiple leagues, it kind of depends how you want each league to perform, but I would probably only run the Autocalc on the top level league and then use those results for the rest of the leagues.

Auto Cal should be run based on the league talent not the rosters. As mentioned you have to be very precise when running Auto Cal or it can and will screw things up major

As for minor leagues, do you use Auto-Calc too? I see there are only options for minors, "Auto-Calc" and "Automatically control in-game engine (recommended)" which implies for use for minor leagues.

Right before the first day of the season the game will physically sim 3 seasons with the rosters/rotations/lineups as set with no injuries and then will use those 3 sims to generate the league totals modifiers (like, on run 1 it goes "oh, HRs are only happening half as often as they should so let's set those to double", and so on).

If you click "next day" when not every team has its roster set in a league, you will get screwy results and the smaller the league the bigger an effect one team can have on them. I see this in the minors a lot more often because Opening Day in A ball does sometimes have teams with incomplete rosters on them, but this can 100% happen in a promo/relegation league too.

The two fixes you can do for this, really are:

1. Make sure every team has its roster set as of Opening Day. You might have to go in as commissioner and fix some things if a team has like 15 guys on the roster and "plans" on putting pitchers into the lineup.

2. Take a screenshot of the LTMs for your highest level league and then go in and edit the lower levels' LTMs so that they match. Note that you have to do that after the 3-season sim is done in each of these subleagues, and you might not get like the exact statistic environment the way you do when you use actual LTMs, but on the other hand this will make it so that each level is "properly" based on whatever is happening in the major leagues.

OK, the things I find out from the forum!!!
On this page the Auto-Calc is set, so when I get to the end of Spring training, prior to the first day of the season, these auto calc numbers will change? Or do you do you run the calculation manually?
I think last season the game updated these number with the actual numbers of the new season. Then copy these to the minor leagues (yes?). What boxes are checked in the minors?
The minors have "recommended", so still use Auto Calc?
