Skipping a Version?
I have a question about importing a league from v23 into v25 when the time comes. It seems like I have seen a lot of people asking about updating from some much older versions. I have never had occasion to consider the answer so I never looked in those threads.
I have purchased and played every version from 3 to 23, but I think I am going to pass on 24. I have been on the fence about it all season. Last week I finished a season and was ready to move on to the next version. Close as I was, I figured I would wait for the World Series sale, which has worked out timing-wise in the past. This sale has always been $10 and I took it as a sign to grab and go into the next season. I was surprised to see that this year it is $20. I was disappointed to see that. $10 extra isn't the end of the world, but it hit me as a bad omen for a franchise that is arguably in decline. I can simply roll forward another season with 23 and be just fine, leaving the door open for v25 when the time comes. Which takes me back around to the genesis of the question, if/when I pick up v25, will I be in a tenable position to import into 25 without too much hassle? |

As far as I'm aware, you can't import across multiple game iterations. For example, you'll need someone to help you move the game from 23 to 24 then you can import to 25. Plenty of people on the forums that own 24 will likely help...I've even done this for a few folks (going from 21 to 24).
I will caution you though, importing from 23 will lead to some unintended consequences if the world you're importing contains certain leagues. Not saying you shouldn't, but just cautioning. |

You won't need to get someone else's help. There are demo versions of past version of the game posted on the site below for the very purpose of walking up the game to the current iteration in the event a version was skipped. You can't play these versions without a license key but you can import from 23 to 24 and then move the game to 25 using these demos.

That depends on the build of 23, since the last couple builds were were the main league-that-shall-not-be-named got whacked.

Does the original demo have the removal code? You are correct though, if someone does import to 23, they must use a build prior to 23.9.102.

Be aware there hasn't been a "demo" version since OOTP19. You can still use the league import feature but it's not like the past demo versions whete you could play the MLB quickstarts are anything. Importing is the only option

I have a question, after long battle i moved my '19 save to '24 - and i'm dissapointed with '24 version (mainly because all pitches look the same) - is there 3 batter minimum rule in OOTP24? In my first game (during seasen) i was able to change pitchers during inning after 2 batters

Once you’ve completed the import it’s like any other save. If it’s during the offseason, yes, if it’s during the regular season, no. It’s generally a bad idea to import during the regular season anyway.
