First 8-5 triple play in MLB history

The White Sox ran into it, of course:

I can't remember what it was, but the Blue Jays made a ridiculous bonehead play, after making a number of them, 10-20 years ago that I was so embarrassed by that I stopped watching them for a few years. I wonder if this play will have the same effect for some White Sox fans. I know it's not the only bonehead move/play by the White Sox this year.

I just don't get it. Engel clearly goes to tag up, looks like he's tagging up from an imaginary base a few feet away, but he never quite touches the actual base. And Moncada never looked like he was tagging up, he broke for it right from the get go. What the hell happened? Did everyone, including the 3b coach, lose their minds? Was there ever an explanation given? Or did La Russa just tell everyone to shut up again, that he knows how to play baseball better than everyone else? I thought maybe they thought it was a home run, but if that's the case then there's definitely no rush to get around the bases. And Buxton, one of the best CF in the game IINM, was not at all running hard so I don't see how they could think it was going to drop out of his reach.

I saw that Engel put it all on himself, that Moncada was just following his lead, but I don't buy that. I think Moncada's breaking right away put it into Engel's head that it was going to be a hit and that's why he overrode what it looks like he was going to do (tag up) and instead went for 3rd.
