Marlins Re-Branding
The marlins are officially announcing their re-brand on November 15th, does anyone know if we will see the new Logo/Uniform/Colors in OOTP 19 or will we have to wait for 20?

keep an eye on the mods forum...highly confident one of our industrious modders will have a logo and uniform set out shortly after the announcement and images are available.

Any chance they are rebranding as, oh, the Montreal Expos?

More like they're admitting the first rebrand was a steaming pile of crap and going back to their proper color scheme.

I'd like very much to see them rebrand as a competent organization that cares about the quality of the product between the lines.
Not gonna hold my breath though. What an embarrassing organization. Trash. South Florida deserves better. |

I like the logo a lot - http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...go-2019-season
At least the way the Marlin and ball stitching are incorporated into each other. Colours may be a bit neonish - have to see them on a player while playing night and day game. Last edited by Bluenoser; 11-15-2018 at 07:15 PM. |

If they had kept the orange, I'd be cool with it. As it is, it's boring.

Jeffrey Loria was (to borrow Fyrestorm3's words from above) a steaming pile of crap, and absolutely plundered and pillaged the organization after plundering and pillaging our beloved Expos. The remnants of his meddling are still all over the organization, and the new group has a helluva lot of cleaning up to do. Yeah, I get that they traded away a lot of very good players, but I think that the organization/system was in dire need of an overhaul, not just a reset or a re-frame or a re-imagining, or whatever they're calling it these days, but a total tear down. The team wasn't winning with those very good players, and currently they don't have any prospects in the top 100 over at MLB Pipeline. I'm afraid it's going to take time to fix it, but I think eventually things will turn around again. The question is will that come in time to keep the team in Miami? |

The new branding is OK. It's an improvement to be sure. Plus it is yet another step in burying the Loria era for good and all. That is nothing but good IMO.

They traded the last two NL MVPs for virtually NOTHING. MLB has a BIG problem with homegrown players leaving smaller market teams being a forgone conclusion. Why should anybody invest the their time, energy, or money into an organization like Miami, or Oakland, or Tampa? Your favorite players will be gone, just as soon as it's time for them to be paid. Marlins fans have had to watch Yelich win an MVP in the wrong uniform, and it's far from the first time. As far as I'm concerned, they're on a "prove it" system. I'll spend no more money until I see a commitment to being consistently competitive and keeping homegrown players here. I also fully reject the assertion that South Florida is a "small market". It's not. |

I agree, I like the past two color schemes with the orange. I like teams that have at least one color that is different from all the other cookie cutter teams. I mean, how many MLB teams have red uniforms?? For instance, in the NFL, the Seahawks have a nice, unique color scheme that works.

you'll know if the new ownership is different when they sign or release any talent they have -- relative to being competitive.
the big trend is rebuild, get a core, then sign FA and extend current players. new ownership doesn't increase wins day 1. so, they sell off what they can now, because they aren't close and avoiding pipedreams is a good thing. hahahah "new trend" now, if the whole league is doing it this way, that's not neccessarily the 'best' thing to do, imo, but even so some form of it is neccessary when you are terrible and devoid of quantities of talent. in the marlin's case and many others, it's the only path to start out. stingier FA markets may become more common. some of this is owner decried for sure. it lower's costs across the board. it reduces FA cost and reduces overall share of revenue that players get even while abiding by a CBA. when you deal with people that also make the rules you can't possibly win in that respect. so, if FA get cheaper, then smarter gm's need to pounce on deals and not be robots sucked into a culture of groupthink. all but dodgers/yankees type still require homegrown talent to start, if smart. the yankees should flourish even more in a MLB-culture like the current. their costs are reduced by cheaper FA.. they do produce a lot of their own talent, but buying it in FA is never off the table either. best of both worlds and they have the budget to buy enough players over time and homegrown is just the gravy. Did anyone else read this thread title as "Marlon Re-Brando"? I think I need to get my eyes examined.
