I worked on pitch deliveries, pitch descriptions, walks, strikeouts, swing descriptions, and exclamations. It was a good start, and fun to do. Perhaps some of it will be used.

Other people did some really neat writing.

Hopefully people like it. I'll have to wait until Sunday to download the patch and see the results.

I honestly doubt that a list of exactly what was changed and not changed or added is available. My advice is to play and see. Thanks for your work Raider.

I just saw:

"_______ couldn't handle that paralyzing changeup."

I think that's new.

I also had a new home run call, aka Jon Miller, in my last game. Don't remember the exact call, but it made me think of Jon Miller calling one of Barry Bonds' huge home runs.

If even 1/3 of Raidergoo's work got into this patch it will be a treat...he and some others really nailed the depth of great PbP that can be used (and they only worked on a few scenarios). Can't wait to check out it!

"___________ will use the slide step and works..."

There are changes in there. It's not a complete overhaul, but I haven't seen any typos yet.

By no means is it the kind of variety I'm hoping we get eventually, but it looks like some of the suggestions we (mostly Raidergoo) made in the PBP forum made it.

Whenever you try to steal a base it is a 0-0 count. Then if your guy "doesn't get a good jump" and you try again it will be a 1-0 or 0-1 count. And of course you can't steal with 2 strikes...that makes sense...ah....anyway so no need to update that I guess.

Right, right. I didn't mean to sound impatient. I just wanted to emphasize to those folks who might gets their hopes up based on the patch list. PBP is, and always will be, a work in progress.

Examples

This is what I've seen so far:

Added outs count, such as "There is 1 out"
More windups, like "X lets it loose"
More kinds of Ks, like "X was fooled by that four seam fastball"
More exclamations than just "Oh Man!", like "Whoa Nelly!" (is that Jon Miller?) and "Oh Doctor!" (that SD announcer... Jerry Coleman)

So that's some of the things to look forward too...

Also, I don't see "the ball rolls all the way to wall," as much anymore. Now it'll say "down into the corner" or just simply "down the line." So far I like the new mix in variety.

I think this one was new, but it may have been in before because it's not a common situation. Went something like this:
Slow roller in front of the plate.
Easy play for the catcher.
He throws to first
but it hits the runner in the back.
Hey wait a minute.
He's called out.
For running outside the base-line. Unbelievable!

That's from Keith Jackson from college football. Some ESPN baseball broadcasters have been using it for baseball recently though.

I got this one in a game I played...
And the runner scores,
Cubs Win! Cubs Win!

Strange thing was that the Cubs weren't playing
