Should Babe Ruth Stay As A SP?

Babe Ruth is Washington's only good SP. Would his offense help more? I'm torn.

How is the rest of your hitting?

Prospects?

Lots of good pitching in the league that might be available in FA?

Lots to consider before making that decision.

Seems most of the time (from what I've seen) he gets converted to hitter. Would be interesting to see him stay as a pitcher and see his stats at career end.

i don't control any teams.
Reserve Clause, although players can be purchased from the PCL.
Their minor league ranks 3rd.

Tough decision really. Do I build my team around a stud SP or stud Hitter?

I'd go with SP, but having a stud at either position is never a bad thing I guess you just have to decide "how" you want to build your team.

Like i said, not my team. i do not manage any team. Just wondering if i want history to reflect him as teh gerat hitter he was in aleague with many great hitters or a solid pitcher in a league that is becoming weak in quality SP.

That's a tough one. If I was judging strictly one stats/ratings and not names I would leave him as a Starter. I think there is more value there for your team.

If I'm looking at names I say you need to convert him.. well, because... It's RUTH!

Babe had a decent season in 1929, I am concerned about his BB though.

Definitely a hitter. In his last year he had over half the WAR batting as he does in pitching a full season in just 147 plate appearances! He is a god as a batter. As a pitcher, he is just super good.

Decent 1930 season minus all the BB. Lefty Gomez is now on the Generals and should help this team win more.

Adopt the DH rule, so that nobody will ever realize that George H. Ruth can hit as well as pitch. Then the decision is easy.

DH rule will come into the South League in 1973. I think for at least 1931 i will switch him to the OF and see what he can do. I like the fact he gets Wins as a SP but the BB are atrocious.

Wasn't striking out batters more difficult earlier, which leads to more pitches for an at bat and therefore more walks?

Thankfully the poll is tied. Amazing 1931 season for Ruth. Now the all time record for HR @ 75 & RBI @ 200. Washington had it's best finish since 1924 (before my 12925 redraft, Ruth was on Boston in 1924) They did make some great trades acquiring Jimmie Foxx & Waite Hoyt.
