Thumbs up

Hey Jax ... nice find ... I had always wondered , if we ever see one of these, on the past players, that made it to the bigs ... especially, proving the scouts were wrong ...

Yeah, he was one strong, gifted athlete ... maybe, one of the strongest ever played the game ... I remembered, in one game, he broke his bat over his head!!! ... I mean, with such ease ... now, that's scary ...

I'll look for one from someone who was wrong. Like maybe Mike Piazza or some like that.

And this was when they made bats that didn't splinter so damn easily too.

Bo Jackson was a super hero come to life for me. He made me fall in love with sports.

I saw that scouting report somewhere yesterday (CBS Sports, I think) and the most fascinating thing for me was that it utilized numerical future/present number grades. Just like in the video games!

I'd never seen an actual scouting report for any player before this one and I'm not sure what I thought they were comprised of. I guess I'd never really thought about it at all. But as an avid sports gamer who can at times be cynical about the simplicity of "this guy is an 88/100 contact hitter," it was cool to see the real life version of those same ratings.

Most impressive athlete I ever saw. His combination of speed and strength were unreal. It's a terrible shame that his career was cut so short.

Jackson in 1986 is reported to have ran a 40-yard dash at the combine in 4.12
He ran one later in the week that was on record and confirmed at 4.18

The fastest since 1999 is Chris Johnson at 4.24

He won the Heisman, was good enough to play at the major league level in the corner OF and could have been a medalist in the Olmpic games.

If you judge him just based on pure athleticism he is right up there at the top.
In the last 30 years I think only Lebron James could challenge him.

Re: Scouts aren't always wrong- Bo Jackson

My memory of him is running right over Mike Harden (cornerback for the Broncos and no cream puff himself) without breaking stride. I hated the Raiders and still thought that was awesome.

OMG ... no one has broken that record, since ?? !!! ... now that's impressive ... that like comparing those records, with Secretariat !!!

I remembered that, Postman, when they showed that during the sport news ... I, also, remembered he ran over Brian Bosworth on a two-yard burst !!! ... 2 yards, what an explosion !!
