Can't Export - Getting -202 Error

I just got ootp9 and I can't export anything. I get this error message:

"Could not upload file. Error -202: Upload error"

I get this on both of my computers. One is running Vista, the other is running XP. Any assistance?

I got a little more info for my problem...

I have OOTP9 on both my home pc and laptop... I'm getting this same problem on both machines. I can't download my online league file and I can't ftp export. My home pc has version 9.2.2 and is running Vista. My laptop was running 9.1.6 and has XP on it.

Yesterday - I was out of town and jumped on the hotels network where I was at. I upgraded my laptop to version 9.2.2 and was able to download my league file and was able to send an FTP export. Now, I'm at home and using the same laptop, I get the error/problems again.

So, I'm guessing this has something to do with my wireless router. I have no problems with gaming online or anything else like that... Anyone have any suggestions???? PLEASE...

Is there a technical contact number or something for OOTP???? Against my better judgement, I purchased 2009 because I have an online league converting to it from 6.5... Now, I purchased the game and can't get it to download league files or export files.

IS THERE ANYONE THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP ME... When I try to download the online league file, I get a simple message saying that the file could not be downloaded. When I try to export via FTP, I get this -202 error. I was able to use my laptop when on another network so I thought the problem has to be in my wireless router.

I just reset my router to it's factory defaults and I'm still getting the same issue. I can go online with no problems, download files, send email, play online games, etc. BUT, I can't get this POS to work...

ANYONE?

*** UPDATE ***

I feel like I'm talking to myself here...

I have verified that my downloading/exporting of league files is due to my wireless router. I verified this last night by connecting directly from my DSL modem to my pc and everything worked. As soon as I put my wireless router in the link, it stops working.

I have the general Linksys wireless G-Access point router (model WAP54G) that you can obtain at Best Buy. I can do online gaming, emails, downloading, uploading, etc with no other problems other than OOTP9. I have even restored the factory defaults to the router just to see if that would have any effect and it does not.

Is there a certain port that I need to open? Is there anyone that can help me out with this or give me a suggestion to try? I don't want to have to keep unplugging my router everytime I need to download/export an online league file?

Thx...

This is almost certainly due to a firewall or some other security setting. See if you can adjust your permissions.

Satchel --- thanks for the response.

I don't think the issue is with a firewall because I'm using different computers and also, I can get it to work fine as long as I by-pass my router and connect my DSL modem directly to my computer. I know the problem is with my router, I just don't know what it is. I've set the router back to its' factory defaults and that doesn't fix the problem.

I've been told that it might have something to do with the Port that OOTP uses and the guy thought it was port 21. I don't have any ports blocked or anything that I see.

Microsoft released an emergency patch today that might have created this issue. I tried to upload my game file for Fri nite, and I got the same issue. Did you download the new emergency patch update today?

I briefly had this issue today too.

I got the error, tried again and it worked. I chalked it up to my wireless router acting up.

Is this still a problem? I'm going to move the thread to closed for housekeeping, but if this is still an issue, let us know and we'll re-open this thread.

I don't know a whole lot about routers, but a few thoughts:

-while obviously the router isn't completely hosed, could it be that it's just partly hosed and the non-functioning part just happens to be the part OOTP needs to work? Maybe try another router.

-you said you don't see any port blocked, but don't routers and firewalls often work where you have to open certain ports? Yes, I know you can block ports, but I'm pretty sure you sometimes need to open them as well. The CBL is using port 21.

-maybe it's not a port that you have to open access to, but the program. I know that you sometimes have to do that with a firewall so maybe you have to do that with routers too sometimes.

KG and others:

Thanks for the assistance. At this point and time, I still can't download or export anything to OOTP9 while I am connected to my router. I'm no router guru and I haven't looked into this for a little bit with the holidays and so on but I did have a friend of mine assist me and we "opened" all ports on my router from 0 to 65000 or something like that and it still would not work.

As long as I bypass my router, everything works. If anyone is a router guru, let me know (email - darrell.peters@sbcglobal.net) and maybe we can hook up on aim or teamspeak or something and work through it together. thanks.

As this does appear to be an issue with how the router is working and there has been no update since last year, this thread will be closed for housekeeping purposes. If it is still a problem, let us know and we'll reopen this thread.
