NFL based roster coming soon...

in conjunction with the uniforms being created in this thread, I am putting together a roster based on the 2007 NFL season rosters.

I more or less assigned NFL players baseball positions and stats loosely based on their NFL positions and stats. I have made better progress than I thought and could have it done later this week or early next week.

Please keep in mind this is just "for fun". The NFL stars are generally the best players. I am not interested in devoting too much more time to this other than finishing it and releasing it... ie, once it is released I do not plan on updating or otherwise modifying it.

Some of the things you may not like... everyone is made as a right hander because I only have handedness for QB's and K/P's. That would mean less than .5% of the players would be lefties... rookies are made with middle of the road ratings.

A word on positions... there were randomly assigned based on the following:

QB = P, OF, 3B

RB = C, OF, 2B, 3B, P

WR/DB = SS, 2B, OF, P

TE/LB = C, 1B, 3B, OF, P

OL/DL = C, 1B, OF, P

P/K = P, OF

So, not all QB are pitchers, some are also outfielders or third basemen. I just felt this was an appropiate way to translate NFL positions to MLB ones. You may disagree, but that's the way I have the rosters set up.

I'll update more as I near completion.

Kicker-Bullpen
Defense-OF
Offense-Infield/C
I like the idea.

The problem with that (which was close to my original setup) is that each team only has 2-4 QB's and 2-3 P/K's on its roster and practice squad so you'd only get 4 to 7 pitchers on each team.

I have something wrong in the league setup right now and the roster will not load. I hope to have that resolved in the next couple days and release it Thursday night. I will be out of the state for a wedding over the weekend, so if I can't get it done Thursday, it will be next week sometmie.

Thanks!

okay, here is some output from the initial roster...

http://www.sttfrk.com/nfltest/news/h..._100_home.html

I probably should have disabled trades.

Just a word on what I did. I randomly assigned baseball positions to NFL players and ranked the players from best to worst at each position. I then created a lahman style database and imported that into OOTP2007. As a result most of the speed/steal ratings are no where near realistic.

Anyway, here is a test season I ran. I will be making some major tweaks to the ratings and add the NLF uniforms being created by truthserum and then release it for anyone that is interested.

If you feel a player should have a certain rating/skill, post here and I'll try to incorporate as many requests as possible before releasing the roster. Once it is released, I do not plan on making any additional changes or releases.

the players in the free agent pool were created by the game since I have the draft disabled.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I like the Link.
Will be a good League to play with.
So kow Brian Brohn in this Roster set.
Will Rosters be set as the same number as in real life?
How about Minor Leagues like Arena and Arena 2 and also World League and so on?

I'm not going to be able to add college players.

I am going back and rerating all the players because some of the lesser NFL players inadvertantly were given high ratings. My goal is to have everything completed by next week Friday (September 28) at the very latest.

Thanks.

I've gone back and started from scratch making the positions similar to what mgom27 suggested. I also adjusted the way I am assigning ratings. I have the pitchers done, but am still adding ratings for the position players. I'll try to have it done and available for download Sunday night or Monday.

while not perfect, I've sent a quickstart to PadresFan mod site. I am not sure when/if it will be uploaded.

A few notes...

The rosters are accurate as of September 16th.

I used logos by justafan and caps and jerseys by truthserum.

I used the 2006 season to assign player ratings. Rookies and players with limited or no 2006 stats are generally assigned middle of the road ratings.

The computer AI has assigned all depth charts/lineups/pitching staffs.

DH has been enabled in both leagues.

The following retired players were added:

Corey Dillion - NE Patriots
Tiki Barber - NY Giants

Football positions were translated to baseball positions as such:

QB/S/P/K = Pitchers
RB = SS
WR = 2B
TE = 3B
C/G = C
OT/DT = LF
CB = CF
DE = RF
LB = 1B

The ratings should really be gone through and updated, espcially the rookies, but I do not plan on doing so. Hopefully someone else will feel strongly enough about it to update the ratings.

I hope some of you will use and enjoy this roster.

The Divisions aren't like they are in real life.
Some Quaterbacks are missing as Starting Pitchers like the ones from the Dolphins and so on.
Player and Staff Pics?
Stadium and Domes?
Team Logos?
I have an updated Template with the NFL Divisions as they should look in real life/Postseason is only one game a piece/Draft happens on April 23,Season starts on September 1st,Trade Deadline is October 16 and so on.

all the team logos should be included in the quickstart.

I originally had some trouble importing the teams so merged the divisions. Everything played well with the alignment so I left it.

the computer AI moved the pitchers around and rather than editing each QB's rating to make sure they were in the starting rotation, I left them as the AI had arranged them.

I was mainly focused on rating the players and not too concerned about the stuff people could relatively easily add themselves.
