This is too far... even for the NFL

The NFL suspends 48 year old Wade Wilson from his quarterback coaching duties because he used performance enhancing drugs to combat a legitimate disease.

So dumb. I mean really now. Are we going to suspend anybody anytime somebody takes a pill of something? Or any drug?

Why wasn't he taking them legally?

I'm not saying he should be suspended, but why did he illegally obtain them if he's fighting a disease? Couldn't he have just gotten a prescription?

I personally believe it was well founded. IF this was about his disease, why not go the doctor and get a scrip for them? He cheated the system, now he's paying the price. Keep up the good work Mr. Gooddell, about time someone cleans up the cess pool known as the NFL

I think the more interesting issue is that why is he suspended more game than a player would. Funny rules.

Crap decision and an ironic post from Pujols about cleaning up a cesspool.

I agree exactly. Shawne Merriman and Rodney Harrison get four games, a coach gets five.

This is one reason I really don't enjoy the NFL anymore.

I'm sure that it has to do with something along the lines of the NFLPA having an agreement with the NFL that a player can't be suspended more than 4 games for a first-time offense. Whereas Wade Wilson is not a member of the NFLPA and the league gets to suspend him for as long as they see fit. If he thinks that's unfair, he should unionize or something.

Surely coaches are much more replaceable than players, therefore they have less bargaining power.

However, this got nothing to do with NFLPA. It got everything to do with what NFL wanted to do. They didn't have to suspend him for five games or fined him so much.

Well, of course it has to do with what the NFL wanted to do. The fact that he got 5 games suspension where first-time offending players get 4 has to do with the fact that the NFL can only suspend them 4 games under the basic agreement, not because the NFL "wants to" suspend them just 4 games.

As far as I know there's no legitimate reason to take HGH to combat diabetes.

It's not like he's playing football or competing in the Tour de France either way.

But the question is why would they want to suspend Wilson for five games and fine him a larger portion of the salary? NFL surely have control on what they want to do with Wilson.

I think it's possible he's buying it for someone else. If that's the case, it's even more insulting for NFL to only punish him as opposed to start some deeper investigation.

Skip, come on man. Read the article. The suspension came as the *result* of a fairly deep investigation into an Internet pharmacist.

If they really believed Wilson's reasoning, then the punishment seemed too severe. That was exactly the point people were trying to say.

If there were doubts on that, therefore the punishment is so severe, than it just seems the investigation is not deep enough.

Which one is it?

NFL overall just got ignored on this issue. WWE and MLB are the real villains! Great PR work I guess.
