Edmonton with the upset just to be a rebel

Dallas (I think Colorado is on the downslide)

Calgary (although I think Anaheim shouldn't be taken lightly..this one will go 7 games)

San Jose--my pick to go to the Finals

I agree on all points. Anaheim has really impressed me with their fast-paced play, but I think Calgary's hard-nosed play will win out. San Jose, to me, looks like the best team in the league in the last few weeks, but then again I followed them a fair bit down the stretch and the East very little. San Jose - Anaheim would be a great series to watch, but I doubt we'll see it.

My only upset pick was picked by most people. The Sharks aren't the same as they were at the start of the season. Who would've guessed Cheechoo would win the Maurice Richard Trophy?

It makes me sad that the Canadien could not acquire Thornton.

true. He would have made the first line so much better, but would Boston have really traded him to the Habs?

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

their starting goalie is out for the season and they're going against a team that isn't a pushover. I think it's pretty reasonable.

Edmonton may not be the pushover most people think. The season series was 2-2 with three games decided in OT and another won 2-0 by Detroit.

This is also the first time since 1991 that both Alberta teams are in the postseason. Not likely that we'll see a Battle of Alberta this time around, though.

1986 in particular, with Steve Smith's famous "own goal" in game seven. I love to bring that one up at every possible opportunity.

Yep, Even when they lose Edmonton traditionally plays Detroit very tough. Their team speed could cause Detroit some problems. Having said that I can't quite predict the upset, Detroit not only had the best record in the league they are probably the hottest team as well.

Detroit so deep at every position and they don't depend on being hot so i can't see an upset happening.

Dola,

My picks are

Detroit
Colorado
Calgary
San Jose

There is usually at least one series in the first round that is a bit of a surprise, that not many people predict and my complete guess for the upset is Colorado over Dallas.

I don't think SJ over Nashville would be considered a huge upset. Since December 28th until Vokoun got hurt in early April the Predators were 18-21 and were routinely getting outplayed. And that was with Vokoun in the lineup. Their 18-6 start really was a big key in them making the playoffs.
