How many hours do you have on OOTP?

I may or may not have way too many

I have a lot of hours on 22 in particular. Probably since I was still trying out a lot of different and new saves at that point.

I've also put how many I have on the most recent edition (OOTP 26). Not nearly as many hours, but still quite a lot.

I am very new to the game, just under 11 hours on OOPT 26 but enjoying the experience of learning the game and the rules.

I honestly don't even want to know the answer for me. It's going to be ridiculously high. Since OOTP 3.

OOTP 26 - zilch
OOTP 25 - 3.6 (dabbled a wee bit with the 2024 O-Birds in the last couple of weeks)
OOTP 24 - 62.5
OOTP 23 - 10.4
OOTP 22 - 22.8
OOTP 21 - 347.3 (Perfect Team and a live Mets run)
OOTP 20 - 437.3 (mostly PT)
OOTP 19 - 178.0 (PT?)
OOTP 18 - 50.4
OOTP 17 - zilch (only bought it for a fiver when OOTPD announced the removal of old versions from Steam, and I wanted that bridge for the Raccoons *just in case*)
OOTP 16 - 6,384.1 (it's where the Raccoons live)

That's all that I have in Steam. I know that I have OOTP 15 but never installed it (found the licence mail at some point years later). I played some OOTP 14, and my first one was OOTP 12 where the Raccoons started and played their first 25-ish seasons, so I'd add at least another 2,000+ hours for pre-Steam versions.

Sums to at least 9,500 hours.

I gotta say, seeing people with 1000+ hours makes me feel better about my own time (I'm not there, but I am very close).

Why haven't you upgraded your Raccoons to later versions? It's fine if you don't want to, I'm just curious. Was some feature done away with in 17 that made you stick with 16?

I usually wait until after the IRL ASB, but I do upgrade at some point. I may not always be in love with the set of improvements, but there's usually something in the new version that makes me want to play it.

I don't fancy the interface of the newest versions and I hate that Play button with a wicked fervor, but that wouldn't have stopped me for at least half of the versions I am behind.

But I do have this entirely irrational fear that under the hood some thing or other is going to work differently and somehow it causes the save to derail.

I understand that. That's why I wait so long to upgrade as I figure if there are any major issues, they should probably be caught and fixed by then. I know, we could always just run test sims ourselves, but I'm past the point of wanting to run 20 multi-year tests to make sure my stats are going to be okay. I'll still run some tests (I ran a bunch for 26 due to all the negative talk of the combine and I came to the conclusion to just disable it or just have the AI deal with it), but I'm at the point where I just want to play the game already instead of testing it so much.

It's not just testing to make sure league stats will be okay though. I got caught one year not going over all the league settings with a fine tooth comb to catch any new ones and the catcher framing impact was set to 1 which screwed up the value of my catchers. Maybe all new settings should be coloured amber or something to highlight them to users.

A lot but... A lot of that is because I'm connected when I do the pack FGs so the hours between 15 and 21 are more realist if we talk "time played".
No idea how much time I have played the non-steam version (2007 to 14).

I only put 312 into OOTP25.
0 for 26 and will probably be 0 for 27.

I regularly skip versions because I believe annual release cycles kill game development. Pretty much why I hate sports games in general.

Besides, if I ran a couple of 20-year sims I'd also know which seventh-rounder currently in AA is gonna be a Hall of Famer. I mean I play pretty stupid and emotional, but even I would see myself exploiting that. Which then kills the dynasty.

I've played the same save since v4 importing it into every version after that. I'll typically get in two seasons, but once in a while I may make three. Best thing about slow play is most bugs, and virtually all long term bugs, don't get a chance to take hold and ruin a game. I play using default setting for most things and always for aging, creation, development etc. No sense finetuning it for two seasons and then move onto the next which will see improvment/tweaking under the hood.

This year?

865 hours on 26. Equals 2 completed seasons of managing every inning of every game of my Cubs. I do everything except set lineups/rotations for my minor league clubs. My only contribution there would be to occasionally force start a prospect to make sure they are getting PA's, or play/learn a specific position.

My game will move into v27 on release of the Steam version.

I think my first 3 versions i bought i maybe reached double figure hours before I'd give up.
But something just clicked for me with 25 and 26 to where I pretty much only play OOTP now to the exclusion of the heaps of other games I used to play.

So according to steam
OOTP 25 1423.1 hrs
OOTP 26 3149.7 hrs

I have never once even clicked on PT either. Just doesn't even intrigue me in the slightest.

This is the one of the truly great things about OOTP, the simple fact that you have been able to do this continually for over 20 years is fantastic.

Also truly great that I can play in a completely different fashion, quite literally a 180 from you, as I just completed my 101st season in my current league, which I think I created sometime in August.

I have been playing since 2016. I play out every game in one pitch mode, averaging at least 2.5 games a day for over 330 days a year. So a lot.

3149.7. I’m impressed. If that is correct, it comes out to about 10 hours every day. Are you actually playing or letting it run in the background?
