MLB Rule 5 & Playoff Roster

In MLB, a rule 5 drafted player has to be on the playoffs roster too not just the regular season roster, right?

EDIT: Oh, and a link would be great. Most sites say all of the season, which I naturally take to mean the entire year, but who knows.

I am pretty sure that this is NOT the case, but I do not have a link. The reason I know is that there was a lot of talk around St. Louis this past season that Bo Hart would replade Hector Luna on the post-season roster.

I think (sorry no link) that they have to be on the roster before September 1st or replacing an injured player.

edit: d'oh, just realized you were asking about Rule 5 players

Thanks guys. That Hector Luna reference lead me to two sites that said that it indeed does not apply to the playoffs. Now any idea how to get them off the active roster in OOTP? Disabling option years and rule 5 does not work and I'd rather not give them injuries to put them on the DL as I don't know if that might hurt them long-term.

OOTP seriously needs to handle the playoff rosters better. The playoffs are separate from the regular season, and anyone can be left off the roster. For example, the Yankees left Jason Giambi off the postseason roster in 2004, without placing him on the DL or anything like that. In OOTP, that could never happen.

All this business about waiving players to move them off the postseason roster is nonsense.

My pet peeve is when a player gets injured during a series you're not allowed to replace him for the next series. Now I could be wrong but it's my understanding that teams set there roster prior to each series and it may change from one to the next. In real life I believe if a guy gets injured that for the next series you can have someone take his place. Am I correct on this?

You are correct about the real-life rules. But I thought OOTP 6 allowed for this.

I play out every game, so I've only gotten through two postseasons and I've never run into this problem myself. But I think someone told me that v6 allows you to re-vamp the roster between rounds.

I am pretty sure it allows this also. You just have to make sure you do it before the new series begins.
