CatoBase 6.1.2 Update

Okay, let's try this one out. I think this will fix most of the problems everyone's been having. As always, you can get it here.

- Fixed error that would make the team field blank and crash the program.
- CatoBase should now work independent of the user's date format.
- Improved the importing of transactions from the ltrans.txt (or ltrans.html) file.

If we already have a the 6.1.1 version running do we need to redo all of our saved seasons or will this update work with previous saved seasons?

I looked around and could not find any instructions for CatoBase. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind... I found it.

The next question is... I have a league that is 10 years old. Is there anything special I need to do to get all the years imported?

No, you do not have to redo the seasons. The fixes in this update primarily affect the importing of the stats.

PP, to get all the pages, you have to run CatoBase at the end of each season. If you start using it in the middle of a career league, the previous simmed seasons will only show on the player pages as 'pre-sim' years.

If it's not too difficult, could you make it so that it will work with leagues with years before 1800? Thanks.

hm... I'm getting a weird error.

While importing pitch_career.csv, it tells me: "Type Mismatch". I click on "OK", and then I get a message saying: "The following team abbreviations are new from last year. However, they exist for earlier years. This is probably not correct. You can change them now or not."

It then lists every team abbreviation... but none have actually changed from one year to another. I click on okay, and it appears to go on fine...

Until I get to the "Ratings Data" section where another error occurs. Run-time error '-214767259 (80004005)':

The changes you requested to the table were not successful becasue they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again"

Okay. Thanks for the help!

I have no idea if this is relevant, but what about Sandspit / Dawson City?

I thought it might have had something to do with that, so I checked and double checked... but the move doesn't appear to have had anything to do with it.

Still trying different things out... but nothing has seemed to work out yet. I think I might have to wait to see if Cato has any suggestions.

Edit: Support ticket has been sent.

I noticed a new feature (I think) under the options for CatoBase 6.1.2. Under the Output tab, there is an option called "Salary Only". It is unchecked by default. What does this option do when checked?

Not sure since I didn't use the option, but I believe when unchecked it displays in the resulting player HTML pages the ratings and salary. Thus when checked salary would be shown but not ratings.

That is *exactly* what has been happening to me. It happened with 6.1.1 as well.

I was having a couple of problems and needed some help with Catobase. I am running the newest version 6.1.2

While importing stats I got an error saying that a Batting.field could not be zero. I checked the player it referenced and the guy did have a .000 batting average for the season. This happened while creating player batting fields I believe. Now the fact the player in question had a .000 batting avg for the season didn't cause the crash did it? There are lots of players especially pitchers with that kind of batting avg. Also when I tried to restart and reimport the stats it crashed saying that season was already in the Database which of course it isn't.

Hope you guys have some ideas!

Doc

Ok I figured out how to get past the "Season already in database error" and when I reran the database it worked without any errors. Not sure why it worked the second time but I am not complaining!

Just rebuilt a database with the update. Quickly noticed a player who had been waived after the last regular season was now listed with the team he played for all season rather than the one that picked him up as had been the case before. Unfortunately it still isn't 100% perfect, but I'm very impressed with how much improvement has been made over the last handful of updates to placing players with the correct teams for the correct periods of time. This seems like a very difficult thing to program, and I just want to give more kudos to Jeff for doing as well with this as he has and continuing to strive to make it better.
