Lightbulb Just an Idea

Just wanted to throw this thought out there for solo leagues. Thought of it the other day and I thought it seemed kinda cool.

Imagine a clock in the game. It would be just a simple display in the corner that would probably tick a minute per second. You could speed it up or slow it down. Now here's what it what be used for. . .

It gives you a better feeling of the day to day life a GM. You choose what time to come in, you choose what time to leave. You can work on lineups (etc...) in your office until you head to the park for the team's night game, you could stay in your office and "listen to the game on the radio" (with basic play-by-play, rather the the reg. game screen).
When working on trades, you may not get the whole thing done in one day. You may start discussing players with another GM, but not agree on anything. The next day you may see something in the Rumor Mill in the newspaper (I've seen other people suggest this, too). The newspaper could mention something like The Team As and Team Bs are reportedly discussing a possible exchange of all-stars . . . (sound familiar?). This rumor mill and clock would work the same for AI gms as well. They would be limited to complete things in certain time, for example, a complex deal (expensive contracts, multiple players) wouldn't be done in a day. Sometimes of course the deal would fall through, which would be reported too.

Imagine yourself on July 31, and your team is yet to acquire a usefull bat for your bench for your playoff push. You show up for work early and begin working the phones. The first few teams you talk to are unwilling to discuss a trade at 6 am. Finally at noon, someone mentions a veteran outfielder who may be available. You're interested, so you start talking players. Your team has a game at One o'clock, which is approaching fast, you decide you can't make it, because this other owner claims to have several teams interested in the valuable utility player. At three pm, you get a pop message telling you your team lost by one in extra innings, it offers to show you the box score, whcich you look at and see you could have used a pinch hitter there at the end (d'oh!). Soon thereafter, you complete the deal and the outfielder is expected to join your team for tommorow's game, just in time for a three day series against the division leader. You fine-tune your lineup with the new acquisition, and decide to call it a day (time speeds up, screen gets dark, and you're asked what time you'd like to wake up on August 1st).

Well, there it is. My longest post, my strangest idea, and my questionable writing ability. This idea is basically just a fantasy. It's too complex for version 6, since it would need a re-working of negotiating and newspaper elements, but I still think it's be cool. It would most likely be something to toggle on and off, since it's really not for everybody. Anyone have any comments, or anythin to add?

I see that as the natural extension of Inside the Park, where after your career you go to work as a minor league coach, minor league manager, major league coach, major league manager, then GM.

Great idea. Hopefully more people see this one.

Hmm, not sure if this could work in regular mode (as opposed to Manager Mode), but perhaps in another mode. You did make it seem like it could add suspense and.. what's the word I'm looking for.. bah! I don't know. But yeah, I like it, just probably not for regular mode, or at least have it as an option somehow.
