As much as i don't like the guy, i had to say kent. I think overal, defensively, offensively, leadership, this guy takes it. Even though i always hope he fails.

Everyone's a comedian here in the Talk Sports forum.

I voted for Vidro because he is a switch hitter who hits well from both sides of the plate, plays average to above average defense, and is very consistent. He's also younger than Boone and Kent. If Soriano would ever learn to take a walk or two this would be no contest even though he is a below average defensive 2nd baseman.

If I was confident that Marcus Giles isn't having some sort of fluke season, I'd go with him. Instead, I take Bret Boone, because flukes don't usually last for 3 years.

Unless he's a 3-year fluke, less common than a normal fluke, but even flukier than a normal fluke. Flukey, huh?

Do you ever read your post over and wonder, "What the hell did I just say?"

Hmmmmm. I had to put some serious thought in to this. Okay, to be entirely transparent, I had to get over my stathead incilinations in order to vote for the best player. Again, the best player right now is Boone but I wouldn't pick him for the next 10-15 years. That makes it much tougher. You see, as a stathead I am conditioned to believe that walks are a players most important offensive skill. However, I realize that it is not the only offensive skill that has merit and should only be considered as one of many criteria. That is why, after much gnashing of teeth and repusling my desire to vote for Giles, I eventually voted for Soriano. True, the guy only takes a pitch if it is a full three feet off the plate, but it is also true that he his for average and much power. I truly hope that Giles will keep up his current production and I can rest easy in voting for him as the best of the best, but for now I think Soriano has to be the man. Man, that was tough.

Where is the love for Vidro? The last 2 years:

Vidro OPS: .868, .880
Soriano: .880, .822

He's only 29.
