What is the setting that has the AI signing vets to only 1 year deals.
I realize that 1 year deals aren't uncommon in the MLB but I just noticed that no vets are being signed to anything other than 1 year contracts in my save. What setting would effect that and what do you all usually set it too?

I assume this is a free agent enabled game? Otherwise, it's always one-year deals as the reserve clause is in effect.

Yes, I have FA in this save. I've never played a non-FA save but don't recall this happening in OOTP24. I did find the setting in question after posting my OP. League Settings---> Game Settings--->Contract Years Maximum which was set to "1". I changed it to "10". Since doing so there have been 11 signings and all were for 1 year. |

There's a checkbox even with the reserve clause where some players (generally stars) sign multi-year deals. It's pretty rare but it does happen. And of course any in-season FA signing is pretty much always going to be for the remainder of the year whether you have that box ticked or not.

I found the "Enable Reserve-Clause Era Rules" check box and it's unchecked. |

I don't have my copy open but there's also a drop-down that's something like "players sign multi-year deals" that goes to "nobody" or "select (star) players", although I think that might also only kick in when the reserve clause rules are on. Otherwise... yeah, if you have full free agency that should also mean modern-day player contracts.
Like, where in the save are you? Are you in the offseason, like November/December? When they happen, that's usually when, with a few more in January and February before the preseason starts. Even if you're in March, you should expect basically no multi-year deals except as extensions; when guys are getting signed at that point, it's because an injury created a need for a stopgap.

I changed the setting for "Contract Years Maximum" from 1 to 10 in early April and I'm in early June now. |
