Lakers are Out!!! WOOHOO!!!
I just turned it on and it's late in the 4th quarter and the Lakers are far behind. This pleases me greatly.

Very surprising to me how bad they are getting dominated.

Geez, Kobe is crying. I guess it'd be nice if most atheletes did after getting kicked out of the playoffs, it'd show how much they want to win..

Shows that even Kobe has that winning attitude....He needs this disappointment now. I hate to see what he will come back as next season. Lakers need to make some moves and get a decent supporting cast.
The Lakers did not deserve to win the Title guys. They were not the same team. And I don't think they wanted it bad enough..this could be the beginning of the end of Laker domination, or the end of the big two, but I doubt it. Too bad West isn't there, they would be back into it and dominating again in 2 yrs. now? I am not so sure.

When you have Jannergo Pargo, Stanislav Medvedenko, and Brian Shaw on the floor in crunch time, I don't care if the other two players are Superman and Jimmy Chitwood, you're probably not going to win.
EDIT: Which makes me wonder why I picked the Lakers in the other thread.

UMMMM....YES!!!!! Oh hey, darkhorse, it appears both of my basketball predictions for the season have now come true. The Lakers are out, but only after beating Minnesota in round one. Suck on dat bish.

Dola moi.
The real question is whether or not there is any truth to the Malone and Pippin rumors. Sounds to me like pure speculation at this point, but it's certainly possible that either one might go there. |

I havent had a chance to watch much basketball this season
except some highlights here and there. The media seem to be making Kobe into the next jordan and he may be. But i tended to see Kobes hot streak as a sign the lakers werelosing the team spirit. I dont know if Kobe is just a me me me ballplayer but it just seem that hes starting to beleive that he is the one that has to win the game. Maybe im wrong but Duncan seems to be the better overall consistent player. Just wish there was a team from the East but i suppose i could root for the Pistons. |

The NBA should have a summer one-on-one tournament. Kobe, McGrady, Garnett, Iverson, Shaq...Brian Shaw...
But seriously, I would watch it. No other game approaches basketball in terms of one player having to watch his teammates fail and feeling like he has to do something about it. I don't fault Kobe if he went all selfish in an attempt to win. It's better than passing it to his slug teammates who will clank some bricks. It's not Kobe's fault that they are his teammates. |

i agree with sixto, only kobe could average 30-7 and 6 assists and be considered selfish. i probably watched 75 of the lakers regular season games and the postseason and trust me, for only brief moments this season did they look like the defending champs. mitch kumstein needs to get the axe for assembling this squad.
put it this way, outside of kobe and shaq, no laker could make sacramento's team. and assuming bobby lee and j. jackson are the first 2 off the bench, keon clark or hedo turkoglu (8 and 9 in the rotation) would swing the balance of power to the lakers if they were playing in los angeles. if the lakers retool, they could get ring #4 next year. |

well no i dont mean to imply its kobes fault.
You are right at time you do have to selfish in basketball but then again those teammates are gonna be cold if they never get the ball. I think Kobe is a heck of a player. I thought the Lakers did the right thing and being patient with his development. Unlike his and Garnetts development going from high school to the pros a lot of others never turn out. I just thought maybe he was putting too much pressure on himself. He still young but the Lakers must realize that Him and Shaq as good as they are still need to be a team. I m afraid that the Lakers will just reload next year for another 3 year reign. Dont know if i like these many 3 peats latley or not. Seems like only yesterday people were wondering if a nother team could even repeat again. Thats what i remember from the Lakers last 2 championships of the 80's Maybe thats myproblem i expect more Magic Johnson, Larry Bird type of team play. Maybe the 80's just spoiled my view. But i certaintly dont think Kobe should waste his talent either. |

the main problem i have with kobe is that at times he doesn't make the game easier for himself. a guy with that kind of phenomenal athletic ability should make it a point to get himself easier looks. i think sometimes he cranks up the degree of difficulty on his own shot unnecessarily. he should be going to the basket and getting to the line more often, shooting less fadeaways, although i think his fadeaway is pretty and effective, it's just not a high percentage shot.
other than that, i have no problem with kobe's game. he works his ass off, plays heavy minutes, and improves every year (so far). baseball man, i also long for the salad days of the 1980's, but janerro pargo and slava medvedenko (lakers on the floor in crunchtime tonight) will never be confused with worthy, parish, dennis johnson, mchale, worthy, byron scott, ainge, michael cooper, mcadoo, tiny archibald or walton. kobe's assist total would be closer to 8 if the lakers knocked down shots the way they had the previous 3 years. i love watching any classic nba, makes me long for the old days. the 3 impressions i always get from classic nba are- 1. they called travelling at least twice as often as they do now. 2. help defense was nowhere as good as it is now, the bad boy pistons and pat riley really changed the game (not in a good way, imo). 3. damn, those shorts are short. |

Goodbye Lakers (chorus)
sung to the tune: Goodbye Stranger-Supertramp (chorus) Goodbye Phil, it's been nice, Your Finals run is put on ice. All your sorrow, all your pain, can't match up to my Bulls' shame. Goodbye Kobe, Goodbye Shaq, Don't want you ever, To come back. You can sit now, right at home, watch the Finals while you get stoned. |
